My buddy has a 2002 Z06 with Corsa Exhaust, Hurricane Intake, and OBD2 Tuner. We ran from 50-120 and every time I had a car on him, slowly gained on him with every shift. What was weird is I was getting a tad tad wheel hop on the top of second, kinda weird is what I thought. Very happy with my Shelby.

I know that is right, with nearly 800 lbs difference betwixt the two.

croz98gt,

You'll have fun with the 02 for sure, however, even with the EVO stage II, you'll have a hard time beating the 07 unless you come up against an unexperienced driver then you may have a chance.

It's all got to do with horsepower and weight ratios, unfortunately the 2007 Z06 with its stock 505hp and 800lbs less, has the advantage. Hopefully, you'll come up against one that hasn't done any mods and you may give him a run for his money.

Nevertheless, good luck! :)

JJ, love it man. You are 100% correct but still, no disrespect to the ZO6. Hot car definitely, but I will drag him/her all day and night long.

I ran two regulars a couple weeks ago and had absolutely no problem and think I would have spanked a ZO6. Guys, don't get it twisted as it will all come down to the rider and his/her skills (and dependent upon the distance). I still pick (pound for pound) a GT500 over a ZO6, but maybe I am naive.

ZO6 who???????????????????? Blah Blah Blah. Like Prseident Bush said: Bring It On!

I own both a 03 Z06 and A GT500. Both stock the Z06 will slightly out perform the Shelby until about 120 at which time the Z06 will start pulling away. With the few mods I have done so far which are exhaust, pully, CAI and tune the Shelby will now out perform the Z06 unless speeds get above 140. As previously mentioned the C6 Z06 is a different animal all together.

Hmmmmmmm, don't think I will touch this one with a 20ft stick as you have a personal reference. The two I ran up against I know were not ZO6s and I know those monsters are fast. But, on the all out big end, the GT500 can't compare? Is this what you are saying? Maybe debatable.

Thanks Though

flipI would say that is correct. It's hard to argue physics. The aerodynamics of the Corvette are going to give it an edge over the GT500 on the top end. There's a lot of surface are on the front of a GT500 and at speeds over 100mph, it takes a LOT of horsepower to overcome the kind of resistance/pressure at the front of the car. Not debatable.;)

I haven't lined up with an LS7 Z06 yet, but from 20 to 130 i pulled about 8 lengths on a standard '07 Vette. He said I threw tire on him when I shifted from 3rd to 4th. I was supposed to dyno this weekend but weather did't permit. The 658 RWHP/770 FWHP Kenne Bell advertises for the stage 3 kit I bought is something I will have to see in person on the dyno to believe, but I really believe it will put it on a stock Z06 in a straight line.

KNow of anyone with the 800+ RWHP they advertise on their website for the KB stage 3 (Competition Only + Race Gas- whatever that means...)

There is a place you fill up with 108 Octane I think at a local Sunoco (and you can fill cans for off road use only of 118 Octane.)

2 of my friends have z06's. one is a 02 z06 with exhaust, the other is brand new c6z06. We all 3 lined up from a 40 roll and raced and i put 1 length on the bone stock c6z06 and about 6 or 7 on the 02 z06. we went to about 120 ish. I have intake, pulley, tune, and axle backs and make 535rwhp. the c6zo6 had less than 1000 miles on it, so it really was not even broke in yet. When he puts a few mods and a tune on that car it will be very fast. but hopefully by that time, i will have over 600 rwhp. :)

we were all on the way to the movies, and it was kind of hard to stop on the interstate and run from a dig. We were lucky enough to have no traffic for a mile in front and a distance behind.
As for a dig, the new z06 would kill me. i rode in it, and it doesnt spin! We rode in my car and all i did was spin. However, i'm sure we will end up going from a dig sooner or later. and when we do, i'll post up. :)

The one that I almost lost was a highway run in the middle of New Mexico and a Nissan 240sx rolled up...we hit it at 60 and he pulled me pretty hard. I couldn't freakin believe it. About 100 it was over and by 140 he was a dot...but the at first I about messed in my pants.

I have a Z06 friend that I wouldn't touch...and good thing, we were at a car show together and I noticed he had a gorgeous Kenny Bell under the hood. He never bothered to mention that before...LOL, It wouldn't gone good.

Friday as I left work, I saw a spankin new C6Z06 parked right next my GT500.

Not sure who the owner is, but probably its still stock. Pretty sure I've got no chance against it, so this begs the question..

WHAT would it take to crush a Z06 in a 1/4 shoot-out at the track - and the kicker ... with street tires..

with the same mods you have now i beat my friends z06 a few times. On street tires. but it is a drivers race.

Kronus01

A quarter mile shoot out should be easier than a highway high speed shoot out like the video, remember at the "lower speeds" of the quarter mile traction will be an issue for both cars and it comes down more to power and weight ratios than anything else. But once we talk about the higher speeds you can achieve in the highway the aerodynamics of the Shelby REALLY hurt us, there is a lot of frontal area compared to the vette so we need way more horsepower than what they do to over come that problem

a KB with 12 PSI??? That's like a 2.6 pulley on the stock blower. Had to ba stage 1 and about a 3.25 or 3.5" pulley.

My stage 2 with a 3" pulley made about 17 pounds....stage 3 with the 3.25 and the 10% lower pulley and a monoblade TB makes about 21 lbs.

Th vettes are great cars but from a roll a KB car set up to run will eat them alive.....all bets are of iff the vette owner is not typical and has done some real mods though ;)

Actually Dave a Shelby with about 615 rwhp (or more ) has enough power to beat a zo6 the problen lies with overcoming traction issues due to the 600+ rwtq that comes with that much hp. Of course the wheel hop issue would have to be addressed also.

I've seen Shelbys run high 11's with just a CAI and a pulley but the driver was very experienced and real good at launching the car.

The bottom line is its hard to beat a car with less weight and better aerodynamics (Corvette).

If you have a modded GT500 you may be able to run with stock vettes, but the modded vettes are gonna make mince meat outta you.

whoever said "running with stock vettes" I think you mean stock Z06 vettes, cause the GT500 will beat the regular vette.

the new C6 style Z06 is gonna be hard to beat even with a stage 2 I would think. I am not a street racer, but On occasion I have to flex the foot when a bozo in a pickup thinks he's gonna spit stones on my nice ride!

I guess someone has never heard of REMOVING THE LIMITER. Some of the Mercedes AMG cars with 600+ horsepower are also limited to 155 simply because the manufacturer does it not because the car is UNABLE, same story with our car

You think its a problem to limit a car to 155 and sell it to the general public?
Tell me where do you intend to drive the car that is both capable of exceeding this and not electronically limited?

Somewhere on this site is a vid of a guy doing over 200 mph in his GT500 (with 3.73 gears I believe) verified by the GPS. Yeah, the corvette is fast too, but lets get real here.

Most people will never hit the limiter, and those who do it on public roads are certainly reckless to some extent. Blowouts, potholes, animals, debris, etc will ruin your day, your car, and might cost you your life.

You wanna go faster, no problem. Just take your corvette to track and stay off the streets.

Was out running a bunch of errands today.

Guy in a Maxima cuts me off. Me no like getting cut-off, stones spit up etc...

It was a hot and humid day, and I had been driving for about 45 mins.

I change lane and dammned if I didn;t push hard enough, (very leery of hitting WOT after the gear change - tire spin=VERY BAD.)

Lots of traffic, and I was in no mood for any racing crap, but this guy clearly wanted some action. I gave him a bit of a run up to the Speed Limit of 45 until the next light, then at following next light I rolled the window down. He wanted to really race. I briefly chatted with him that I wasn't going to do any racing.

Now this is just past lunch hour traffic, and very hot and humid here in FL. Guy has 3 kids in the freeking car!!! I told him, I was all done. I did ask what he'd done to the car - he says stock CVT maxima.

Probably I was as dumb as he was to get into the throttle like I did.. ANyway, I was really shocked to see he had 3 kids in his car, and one was in the front seat!

Tell you though, those cars are quick.
