Calling all Shelby owners to come out this Saturday for a cruise with the slower non -Shelby guys. :) Starting at A&W in Coquitlam at 11:30 a.m.
We are heading to Langley area. It would be cool to arrive at the same time so those that want to meet somewhere give me a shout.

By the way, I'm looking to put a nice Shelby jackcket together. I would like your guys input on it and know if you want one.

i might be interested in a cool Canadian Shelby jacket, but it has to be COOL! no elastic sleeve ends! what brand are you thinking of? there is a place in Langley that does all the sport teams and rock bands. ill dig up the name and post it.

I know of 6 people for sure that would want them. I have a T- shirt with a Shelby front end and two Cobra's coming up the sides. What do we call ourselves? B.C. Shelby 500 ? I'm open to suggestions.

A nice jacket could have an embroidered GT500 on the back in the owner's color w/stripes and provisions for embroidering the owner's city, state, etc. Unless you can find someone with an embroidery machine that already has the set-up for the GT500, the cost of the initial set-up is about $400 give or take. The actual embroidery is priced based on the number of stitches in the design. Since they are "made to order" you should be able to get the car in the color of your choice.

The front could have a cobra on the left breast and owner's name on the right.

As for the jackets themselves, I kinda like the old "Members Only" style. They come in various colors; maybe a red jacket with my blk/red GT500 on the back for me. My wife and I have black ones with iron-on patches for a T-Bird group on the left breast, but I did see some with the T-Bird embroidery on the back and they looked great. :pimp:

Thanks for your reply. I'm also thinking spring is coming so for now go with a lighter one then a heavier jacket for fall. Hopefully I can find more GT500 owners that want a jacket , that would bring the cost down.

Here's a link to pics of the cruise.About 36 cars showed which is not bad for Feb. There were about 10 Shelby's.
Mine is the Vapor silver going over the bridge. We can have fun in Canada too.

Turned out we had 38 cars total but a couple left early. The cruise started at A&W Coquitlam then highway to Langley, through backroads to Mission A&W, Lougheed back to Maple Ridge A&W. Prizes were given out and fun was had by all. Got home and checked all my fluids and they were spot on. And I ran the car pretty hard.

Had a good run against a Whippled G.T. and he kept right next to me and I was surprised untill I found out how much boost he was running and 4.08 gears. I don't give his engine long with stock internals.

That's a nice cruise.

I have family in Vancouver so someday when I'm in the area (usually like to get out there at least once a year) I'd like to join you guys.

Sure, Canadian is fine with me. I have written to Shelby to try and get permisssion to use their logo for our personel use only, sadly there has been no response. I thought of using one of the jackets Shelby store sells but I don't like any of them. Any of you guys have ideas speak up and maybe we can get something together that will work.

Why keep it legal? Getting sued by Shelby might make our cars worth more, we'd be famous. Seriously though, my lawyer told me the only way Shelby would even think of coming after us would be if we were profiting from the sale of said jackets. For our personel use why would they sue their customers for free advertising? Shelby does sell a patch but it is only 3 inches in diameter, but maybe put the patch on the back with something else?

Great, I also am in contact with about 12 GT500 owners here and haven't even asked them yet. I will go and see my promo guy that does my company shirts etc. and give him what we have so far. I'm thinking the price will come in under $200.00 . Give me a week to put it together but in the meantime any suggestions are welcome.

Well if we ain't gonna care about being somewhat legal then lets not make the badge on the back to small... This is the jacket I bought whilst I was down in Vegas last July... This has a bloody big Cobra on the back..! :)

I wouldn't mind one of those myself. It would be great for cruises and get togethers with other GT500 owners, but for wearing out I think something a bit more subtle might be better. I'm thinking the front end of the car like the t-shirt that is available. Stitched in an off black color so you can see it but it doesn't jump out and try to bite you.

O.K. your're in. I now have over a dozen people interested. I'll have information middle next week as I want to shop it out to a few companies first. Then I will post info and picture of what it will look like. I will try and keep the cost as low as possible and of course this is all non profit, only for the use and enjoyment of G.T.500 owners. :)

I was over at the promo guy's house today and gave him all the info and he will be forwarding it all to the artitist. Then we can determine the way it will be embroidered etc. He's actually pretty excited about it and figures the back of the jacket is going to look pretty hot.

So how do you guys feel about CANADIAN GT500 CLUB on the back? Not too large.

For the left front FORDGT500.com ? I think we should promote the site?

On the right side we could have your name or your year and color of car?

Here's the latest on the jackets. The se-up fee was way more than expected and the only way for us to get a quality jacket and awesome embroidery is to try and sell a few to the U.S. boys as well. So the Canadian only version will not work. We have thought of promoting this site on the jacket,this will be good for all involved. The cost of the jackets will then be $230.00 includes taxes. I have worn the jacket and its very comfortable.Below is what the artist quickly came up with for me to show you.Keep in mind the front will be lettering only,no picture. For the back I have yet to hear from Ford if I can use Shelby. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,its coming together. Yes a cobra over the front lettering would be good. This would be another $50.00 set up fee but I am trying to find someone to include it in the price. I am waiting on Ford and this site to give me permission to use the logo's. When I spoke to Ford they were fine with it as long as they know what we are doing. Their fear is someone making a mess or using the Ford name incorrectly. One of the stores is bringing in another jacket from back east which they claim has better leather for the same price. I'll keep you in the loop and hopefully the jacket order will go in next Monday and be ready 2 weeks after that. The artist did show me a 2005 GT that he did for another club and wow it was nice.
