We had a great day at Englishtown last Friday.
This was my first time at the strip, and man what a good time!

I ran a 12.1 at 118.5 on the stock Goodyears which I hear is decent for my mods:
Upper pulley, intake, tune and mufflers.

I think I may go back to see if I can hit the 11s on stock tires, then run some drag radials to see how low she can go...

Here's the slip:

Nice time for stock tires. Plenty more left in the car-drag radials will bring that sixty down for more ET. Good job.

Yeah I feel the same way. I was really nursing fist gear... Can't wait to try it again!

A 2.2 60 ft and you still ran a 12.1. You are just decent tires away from the 11s!

Perhaps a sub 2:00 60ft time is just the right tire pressure away!

Good luck and keep us informed!

15 in the rears. 50 in the fronts. No, I'm not kidding. NO burnout...they turn to grease.

Yeah I didnt do a burnout. I only spun the tires lightly to chase any pebbles and crap out of the treads. I dropped the pressure to 28, but should go lower. :) It would be fun to try the combo you mentioned.

You ran a 12.1 with 28lbs in the BFGs:eek:

Try BJ's pressure recommendations and let us know the results!
I think you'll be :rocker:

Eureka! He's uncovered the ONLY good set of Goodyear F1s on earth! If I were him, I'd play the lottery today!

He'll need a change of shorts when he does it with a real set of tires!

I was at Byron Dragway in scenic Byron IL a few weeks ago and there were a bunch of AC Cobras that showed up. Everything from a side oiler to a guy that had the Buick GN Turbo in one. Long story short, they all had big honkin tires on them and more than one guy nearly crapped himself when they launched and it stuck. One guy literally took his hands off the wheel....looked like he was doing the wave.

You are too funny. Meanwhile I drove and was like, ok if they tell me 13 something, I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead.

Was the guy in the cobra Jay Leno? lol

Damn drop that 60' and that is an 11 second slip, drags puts you in the 11's no doubt!

Nice job!

Shit man, I ran a 12.4 on the stock tires completely stock with no mods. Im sure with a nice DR, the bone stock GT500 could crack into the 11's, just bearly. Nice, but man with a pulley and tune and whatnot, your stock tires really killed you. 11.5-11.7 with probably a cai/tune and DRs.

Well I can tell you right now that as soon as you add any new power, it gets harder to drive the car fast without melting the stock rubber. In theory, the car should blaze through in the mid to upper 11s, but as you'll see, the tires are truly the achilles heal. Very few cars doing 11s with the Goodyear junk.

I dynoed my car this weekend, and the car is making 630 ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel. That's a radical change over stock. Getting that down in first gear is a waste of time.:boohoo:

Next year, im going back with Hoosiers and 3:73s and shooting for 10s:silly:

I ran a best of 11.38 of the stock F1s before they were gone. Track prep and tire pressure were important. I have plenty of power(TVS and other items), and was shooting for 10s on the F1s, but never got closer then 11.38. The car was just to touchy and inconsistent on the F1s if you have any power.

What was your 60 ft and mph?
That's impressive, but I suppose if you can mash the throttle after 1st and 2nd, anything is possible!:grinbiginvert:

1.806 60ft, 1/4 mph 129. Like I said track prep is critical. This was at a major event and thr track was very good. Typcially I could only get 1.9s on the F1s, if they hooked. I have over 250 passes on my car, so had lots of practice. There is no mashing the throttle on the F1s, just a rapid roll into the power. I moved to Nittos, and found them only marginally better the the F1s and will be going Mickey Thompson this year(10s here I come).

Nice mile per hour! The track was crap when I was there cause it was a rental day with all street cars and only one lane open. The best 60' I could do out of my 3 passes was a 2.2. With the right bite, that was an 11 second run.
My mph was 119 so you must be making a solid 100 more hp than me with your tvs. Any final drive changes? I just purchased 3:73s and will be getting some hoosiers and going for low 11s.

Yes, running 3.73s. Also have the rear LCA reloaction brackets. I did take them off for part of last years season, and they do make a difference, so I put them back on. Depending on the track you go to, anything below 11.50 can be a problem, without meeting NHRA safety rules. I gave in, and am putting a roll bar in the car over the winter.
