The all-new NT05R is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed for serious drag racing enthusiasts. The dual-purpose sidewall construction and the all-new specialized race compound enhance traction during launch and deliver stability at the top-end. This results in improved* consistency and controllability from the tire. The NT05R Will get you off the line quickly and down the track with confidence and speed.

The new NT05R Drag Radial will not phaise out the current NT555R Drag Radial. For those of you considering a street legal drag set up, the new NT05R Drag Radial will complement the recently released NT05 (http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/nitto/product/byName.do?tmn=NT05&typ=Passenger%2FPerformance) very well.

TECHNOLOGY

- New drag-specific compound specifically engineered for maximum traction at the starting line

- Large center tread block provides excellent dry traction and continuous contact patch

- Sidewall construction with high-modulus bead filler and large shoulder blocks increase straight-line stability

the 305' will fit. Our rear rims are 9.5'' wide.

SVT_SRT is correct. The OEM wheels are 9.5" wide. The 305/45-18's are too tall to fit stock though.

So your saying the 305/45-18's won't fit?....what's the biggest that will?

Thanks,
Brent

The 285/40-18 is really the max application for the OE wheels.

I will be more than willing to lead the testing in the North Texas area. I have no objections. O and I will need a new set of rubber before 1st of march so if we could step up the release date that would be great!

Could be Original Post, Other Post or Other Posters. OP.

I don't like it when people use acronyms for that reason.

What width wheels are you running and what are the offsets? As far as tire models go, did you have something in specific you wanted to run? The NT05R is not available in a 305 width for a 20" wheel.

Looking to buy a set to replace my rears. Looks like I have to stay with stock specs as I don't want to effect my "wheel gap".

Okay I am lazy, are you making them for the stock rim on the 2010

If does not look like Nitto is building the stock 19" sizes yet.

Nitto's came in, as did my extra set of SVT rims to wear them. They'll get mounted next week. Still have to wait to see how they run when it gets warmer out. But next to the M/T's on my '66...they look pretty bad @ss :) Hopefully they perform as well as they look.

So how does one choose between the NT05 and the 555? My impression is that the NT05 is closer to a full (drag) race tire, suitable for the hardcore, TVS-equipped cars whereas the 555 is probably a more well-rounded street tire that will get the job done on a more moderate setup, ie. smaller pulley on a stock blower and low to mid 500's at the rear wheels. Am I right?

I wish nitto or Toyo would make a rear 285-40-18. Our tires are 27 inches tall and would like to keep to the same height. Ran nt555 but after you mod the shelby they don't hook up that great. 1st gear is a waste and 2nd isn't much better but they look good :) A friend has the 555r which are good on the strip but he doesn't care for the handling. The NT555rII I think would do the trick but of course not in our factory size.. go figure :(

The NT05R in size 285/40-18 may not be a bad option for you. This model uses a semi-radial construction and has a more stable sidewall which increases on-road performance handling.

I didn't realize they made it in our size....now this I like.. I guess for the front I could just run the NT555 standard would be okay ?
I drive more on the street than at a strip so would these tires be okay for driving. I don't go across country and don't care about long mileage but I do drive it to some car shows which are 3 hours away. Would this tire handle that okay ? Seems like every tire I like never is in my size but these are :) I just don't want a pure drag race tire for the street... I have been known to take some turns a little faster than the posted speed limit :)

You can certainly pair the NT05R with the NT555 Extreme Performance and this combination will be fine on your 3 hour travels. Just keep in mind that drag radials are not the best in rain.
