09SHELBY 06-20-2009, 07:55 PM took her to the track for the second time, ran a best of 13.2, 2.0 second 60ft
took out second gear synchro, hopefully she is warranty! lol.
remember this car is bone bone bone stock, will this tranny hold mods with slicks? hopefully this isnt a reoccuring problem

How did you take out the synchro? Speed shifting? I have not heard anyone tearing snychros out of this tranny when they are using the clutch even with some pretty stout mods....

I backed into the burnout box, dropped it into 2nd dumped the clutch and heated up the tires a tad (more for a show than traction, lol) staged and launched without a problem, then couldnt shift into second at 6100RPM.
went ot third and finished off the race, drove an hour to get home, just shifting from 1st to third, car drove normal like nothing happened, however no second gear of course.
Yes, when racing I always speed shift.
I have heard from many that this is a common problem with the GT500 and should be or is a recall out there for it.

Mine always grinds going into second gear when speed shifting, but always goes into the gear. It sure grinds loud, but still manages to get into second. My old 04 was like hitting a brick wall when it did that and would not go into gear. Also, it only happened every once in a while on the 04. It happens everytime I speed shift into second. Funny, because I can power shift into third and forth without letting off the gas, no grind.
branspen 07-06-2009, 02:11 PM Hi friends, I just lost second gear as well. I was at the track this past weekend and made one pass comming off the line very easily with no probs. The second pass I came out hard without speed shifting and could not get second. Since the thing was new second gear never felt quiet right and now if I am tacking very many revs it wont go at all. There is a TSB addressing this issue and mine is going in for a complete new clutch assembly, flywheel, and synchronizer replacements. I thought wow ive never been to the track before and I have screwed the thing up first time lol. Oh well, I certainly dont agree with some members of this site on keeping a low profile about racing or beating on the car responsibly. I realize the car to some is no more than a pretty collector that never gets the muffler flushed of carbon. But for me it is both. So dont pay for the beautiful engineering of this cars power plant and not use it, im sure Caroll expects it. Just a few thoughts.
