Will post mine with MGW's frame as soon as I am able to place my order. In NYS you have to wait 30 days, or at least till the dealer submits and Motor Vehicle records dealer issued plates. Do not want to give up my vanity till it is issued. Great vanity ShelbyWise.

Here is mine. My better half's name is Emily and her nephews used to call her Emmy when they were small. Her middle initial is G. I have been calling our Shelby EMMY G since before it was ordered! Emily was not fooled by my effort to make it seem like the car was hers! Oh, well!

B17,
I have owned a house on the west end for 17 years and the B17 used to fly over our house so low it would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It was one of the most exciting and stirring things anyone can imagine. Was that you? If it was, thank you. I have seen a white GT 500 on the island a couple of times. Was that your car? I am still waiting on a rail car assignment for my red one. ETA 11/6 then 11/7 then 11/14 then who knows.

We are now in Jamaica Beach on the bay side and would really appreciate being buzzed by the B17 sometime.

Picked up from showroom with car hauler, unloaded and put in storage with 19 original miles. Will decide if to drive 1 year from now. Love the car. Caused a crowd to form when picking it up with the car hauler,as they wanted to know why I wasn't driving it. Wife was unhappy at first but when she saw what the asking price was verses what I paid, she calmed down. Stickers still on car, manuals and mats still in platic as delivered from factory. GGBIW

The reason I'm waiting 1 year is my driving record. I attended traffic school, but recieved another ticket which brought the other ticket onto my record. I am a responsible driver and commute 126 miles one way to work. Also,I'm contemplating retiring in 1 year so I'll still have the 36000 mile warranty intact.I think I will purchase the extended warrant too. Yes this is hard to do but I do have it and possesion is 9 tenths of the law. Bought one of those car capsules for it so it will always be in perfect condition. I am considering getting another one though and leaving this one alone as an investment. Saw a gt350 go for 168000.00 on Barret jackson the other day. WOW!

We have gone to great lengths to remove the red lead off the Golden Gate. No offense taken,I'm not thin skinned as I manage 20 Ironworkers and 5 Operating Engineers for the Golden Gate .I'm starting the process of buying another Gt500 which I will install the Roush stage 2 kit on.It's going to get awfully hot at my house over this but my wife has stated she wants me to drive it. I'm taking the salesman that sold me the car to the top of the Golden Gate as a token of appreciation. If you check out what the price is on Ebay,It looks like the price is starting to come down based on supply and demand. We'll see what I get the next one for unless my wife files for divorce.

Jonsey show me where $37,000 is the invoice and I will eat my hat! Not even close for a base model at MSRP! Let's not forget freight and GGT as this is part of BASE.

Jonsey

Nah, I call the car itself 37-38 the base, the ~2k extra on top of it is... well... on top of it.

Call it 40 for "invoice" if you'd like, but I feel it's mis-construing the term.

Jonsey I beg to differ but based on memory, I would venture base is more like 43,000 for a coupe and don't recall verts. I will have to check my paper work at the office tomorrow. I know I paid approximately $48,000 out the door and that was with a 8.625 sales tax rate, which by the way applied to GGT as well meaning tax on tax. My options are obvious based on my sig. I paid MSRP.

Correcton $48,938.11 with sales tax @ 8.625%. Take out the sales tax and you are at $45,052. Now take out Shaker 1000 and leather upgrade and you are at base of approximately $43,000 for a coupe. $42,975 to be exact!

I tried to stop driving my 67 GT 500 but no luck. I hope after I receive my 2007 I will be able to hold back on the 67 a little. The 2007 will be worth just as much with a few miles on it. People also pay for the past history of the car. Take it for a ride for history.:)

Look at Ebay. that is what the market will bear. I agree that it would be nice if you could get one at msrp, but the demand for the car is what is pushing the price up. In the beginning they were getting 70000.00 because not many were around. I refused to pay that amount and watched EVERY gt500 sold for a few months. The dealers are being greedy as they are currently turning down 55000.00 and relisting them. I have contacted a few of them and told them they were overpriced as the few that I saw sold were in between 55000 to 60000. The only way you could get one below msrp is if you had a dealers license and had a connection or two. If everyone were to hold out,and more came off the assembly line, supply and demand would force the greedy dealers to come down.I noticed few people willing to pay more than 55000.00

I really can't think of a better long term investment than a gt500 with the dealer original miles on it.Yes 40 years is a long time which I'll never see,but my heirs will thank me for doing this. I do have the means to get another one and will see what I can get it for. My wife is going ballistic over this, but I make the money and assure her I am not going through mid life crisis. It is my opinion that it will be one of the current gt500 owners that will buy this vehicle when later in life they are very succesful and money is irrevelant. If 2 gt500's come up for aution, 1 with 19 miles, manual, floor mats in original plastic, stickers still on the car, the other with 2000 miles, money is not an issue with the buyer, which do you think he'll want. I believe it's a no brainer which he'll want. It will be one of the current owners that will buy it.

I really can't think of a better long term investment than a gt500 with the dealer original miles on it.

I agree wholeheartedly. Yes, I fully understand long term gains as well as the present value of money. But, 35 years ago I coulda, woulda, shoulda and now I am not letting these cars pass me by.

I own a Torch Red 2007 GT500 that I plan to drive the pants off of. For investment I have signed contracts for a Torch Red 2008 Convertible and a Black 2008 Coupe, both will all available accessories. I have two grandsons, 1 and 3 years old. Connect the dots.

There is no way I can park a couple as an investment and yet deprive myself ( 55 years old ) of the fun I missed in earlier years.

If you see a 07 Torch Red GT500 with the plates 'KENS500' in the Chandler AZ area, give a wave and I'll pull over.

Pass on the grand kids. I'll take my GT500 now, ride the pants off of it and look for deal on a Ford GT. Now your talking. By the way I'm 55 as well and I don't care if I'm going through a mid life crisis.:D :D The grand kids can have the real estate, a much better investment and this way they can't hurt themselves or the cars.:p

+1 shelbyvst,
I'm 57 and don't have any grand kids yet. You are right, they can have the money(if there's any left) and the house and the gas lease and whatever, and take the GT500 however it is when I'm done. I enjoy driving it more every day. 1700 miles in three weeks and I was thinking today that I'm not going to worry about the mileage. If I run out of warranty then I really start the mods and it's cheaper to put in a new engine then buy a new car.

Well said shelbygot2...In 40 years, I'll be in diapers (hopefully!) and I don't really give a rats ass if my car is worth $100K with 30K miles or $250K with 100 miles on the clock...hell, I'll be lucky if I remember it at all...I really think that shim stock would be a better investment over the long haul...:p

I see I drew a little attetion to my qoute which no one argued about which cobra would be worth more. I could own 5 shelbys if I wanted to. I will get another to put the stage 2 Roush kit on. Like I said, it will be a current shelby owner that will pay the big bucks for it. I don't deprive myself of anything. Going to buy the new ss camaro when it comes out and hemi challenger and do the same as I did to my first shelby. I've done the real estate gig already. 35 years ago I wasn't making 6 figures to afford all the toys. It's amazing how much people don't like me putting a gt500 into hibernation. To each their own!

one already came up they didnt mention the miles so i assume it was more than 19 miles. It went for over 500k and I personally know Shelbygot2's is a better car with more options. Shelbygot2's car has been featured in numerous auto magazines and at many auto events along side some of the best and most expensive car collections in the nation. His car was just picked by Motor Trend to be their feature car in their exhibit at an up coming Autorama. They never asked how many miles it had on it. Low milage is good especially with history behind it but starts being of less importance to many of these collectors> They expect a restoration and they are looking more at quality of the restoration.

Well, having only 19 miles at least doesn't hurt it's value. Shelby2 is sitting on a GOLD MINE! Taking good care of it and low milage does help the value at Barret Jackson. I see Carrol Shelby has put his gt500 up for a raffle to benefit his childrens foundation. The tickets are 25.00 or 5 for 100.00 at WWW.WINASHELBY.ORG. What an awesome man! Sweet! Trying hard to get another gt500 .seems to be getting harder right now. The dealers are holding out for 20000.00 to 25000.00 over sticker.I emailed one of the sellers on ebay and informed him his starting bid was above where most of the bidding was ending. He lowered it 8000.00 to 60000.00 but that's still to high. I'm getting good at "whining " about the price. Anyhow, it's great having an awesome forum such as this! GGBIW:)

Hey Jonsey, How are you doing getting your gt500? I'm finding it hard to talk sense to some of these dealers. I might just have to wait for the 2008 year as these dealers are'nt budging. I had 1 dealer ask me if I wanted his white with blue stripes gt500. When I told him I would give him 10000.00 over msrp he stopped emailing me. I guess I'm in the whiners circle now. GGBIW

Jonsey
02-09-2007, 03:19 PM
Welcome to the suck, kid. :)

Right now, I'm idling until the 2008s. The only dealers willing to talk sense are sold out, but want to sell me a GT/ShelbGT.

But, mostly I'm using contacts with Ford... hell, I had someone who's been sponsored by Ford Racing hook me up with one of the biggest dealers in the nation, and he was only able to get me cost from another dealer (10k over, plus 10k for himself) [which is actually reasonable to me, especially if you're open about it up front]

I'm trying to find one at 5k over, 2008 would be fine. Let's take this discussion either to PMs, or the Jonsey's quest thread in the NW forum, to not spam this topic. :)

Old thread, but I just got mine, so I thought I would share. SN4KE. I went to UCF, so I got the UCF tag, mainly because it has black letters (has to go with the car).

This is the plates I had on my 08 vert. Had them since 1972. Now have
SNAKE, and this plate is on my winter car. Kickstand, I just saw your
note about suggestions for 68GT350. If you are still looking, have a
suggestion. I think you can have 8 #'s in CA right? If so how about
68GTCCCL? This will show how many are up on their roman numerals.
CCCL, is 350 in latin. I was going to get RAREGTD. D is 500 in latin,
but was able to get snake instead. To another old message about prices
if your talking GT500's, don't forget the $1200 gas guzzler tax, which
you probably won't get rid of, as it's federal.

Sometime ago, I believe it was in this listing, that someone started arguement
about getting a 500 for around $35,000. Just had my window sticker out, new
one from Ford, while responding to a question from rattles in another thread,
and my msrp on my 08 vert was $47,155. total was $53,210. This included
$1650 for redstripe package, and $1,300 gas guzzler tax. I find this interesting
as, on hiway I can pull better mileage than my 07 GT auto. Dealer had it
marked up another $10K. I got 8K knocked off. They would have sold me a
hdtp for sticker. If they knew how rare the redstripes were, they might not
have knocked it off. Anyway good luck on getting a hdtp for 35K or a vert
for 40K.

Well, it's official, I'm an idiot! I thought this was a good idea but realized the meaning after ordering the plate. SN8KBIT: sounds ok, but it means: to bring misfortune or being unlucky, or just down and out. I guess I can see it as reverse psychology, or the car that just tried to take me at the light was "unlucky". What's your opinion?

Just looking thru some old listings here, (bored, had to put vert in storage for
winter), and noticed that in PA they had to send in 4 choices, and wait for
response??? I thought we were backward in ME. Here you just go on line, fill
out a plate with choice, and immediately tells:shrug03: u if availabe, and can order
it on line. Sure u can't do this in PA also???

larryagray1@verizon.net
12-29-2008, 10:41 AM
:zlurking: Still bored, so thought I'd see if I could come up with some ideas for anyone who's looking, so here we go
-----GTD 1BADGTD (D=500) 1BADSNKE SNKESKIN RATTLER SLITHER
SIDEWNDR SDEWINDR FANGS FANGED FANGED1 SNKEBITN ILLBITEU
CNSTRCTR PYTHON VENUMUS1 IMSNAKEY PITVIPER BLKMAMBA (only if
cars black) SLITHRNG ANACONDA ILLFANGU OFANGIT. If you can't have
8 letters (like my state) make some adjustments. KNGKOBRA KNGCOBRA
SDEWNDR POISON4U 2PSNUS4U EATDUST 2MCHHP4U (to much horsepower for you) DNTTRYIT. Hope you can find something. If I think of
some more, I'll be back. (as for Auh-nuld, TRMN8ER TERMN8ER TRMN8ED
TRMEN8ED TERMN8ED I-TRMN8U) I had DE-JAVU which I had since the
day they went on sale in my state (36 years ago) changed to SNAKE, (talk
about lucky), and trasnfered DEJA-VU to my winter car, so I would'nt lose it.

I've had the same Kentucky tag for almost 15 years. "FLYBYU". Had it first on a '92 LX 5.0, 5 speed--since then it's been on a Sebring convertible, Ranger pick up and most recently a PT Cruiser. Looks better on the GT 500 than it ever has....and curiously enough, attracts more attention there too!

B17,
I have owned a house on the west end for 17 years and the B17 used to fly over our house so low it would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

Small world, we lived in Texas City while I was growing up and used to see those guys practicing all the way over there. Straight back of our house was Moses Lake and then Galveston bay. We live in New Braunfels now. We're coming down there to take a cruise in March, We should all meet....

A vanity plate is a special type of vehicle registration plate on an automobile or other vehicle. The owner of the vehicle will have paid extra money to have his or her own choice of numbers or letters, usually forming a recognisable phrase, slogan, or initialism on their plate.

In around June after all the 2010 shelby's are built and the numbers get put in the computer at ford performance,,call them at 18003673788. Give them your VIN and a credit card for $45.00 and they will send you a certificate with all that info about your car. Also, if you do not have it, for another $10.00 they will send you a window sticker. Good luck with your new beast.:)
