Any guesses as to most popular and least popular color? I will take a shot and say, most popular - torch red and least popular - Grabber orange. But then again beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I am sure 07 and busababy will go with torch red as most popular.:D

Torch Red is definitely the fastest with Performance White a close 2nd.

I beg to differ, cornfay. Blue is definitely faster, and here's why...

The color you see for a particular pigment is caused by the reflection or absorption of different wave lengths of light. A blue pigment absorbs all wave lengths except blue, which is reflected. As we learned in physics class through the "Roy G Biv" convention, red is the lowest wave length of visible light, while blue is close to the highest wave length. Wave length of light is directly proportional to energy it contains. The higher reflected energy of a blue car causes higher levels of excitement of the air molecules around the car, causing a low pressure pocket to form around the vehicle. This low pressure allows the car to slip through the air more freely, thus making it faster. :D

i want whatever your on, i tell you what we can race mine vs yours and then i will spray paint my car violet and see how much of a difference it makes, and by the way if you expect me to believe all that above i am goping to have to check your sources and I am going to beed refrences cuz it sounds made up.

And by the way you better get rid of those stripes cuz they will do nothing but slow you down hahaha

Nice try Pretzel. Not. Since you accurately point out that RED, roughly 850 nM is the lower end of the visible spectrum, then, without going into all the math, RED is always the first to arrive - followed by all the colors and ending in blue (actually violet).

So, RED always arrives first (just do a spectrum analysis of any star, red is the first to hit the photo tube), BLUE always arrives last. Why? Because Albert Einstein and way too many 'ludes says so ;-)

Now you know WHY I ordered a Torch Red GT500. I get one billionth of a second higher ET's in the 1/4 mile than a Blue GT500.

Ah ha! Since you mention stars and the color spectrum, allow me to retort. When stars are moving away from a relative position, the light waves emitted are streched, thus shifting the light toward the red end of the spectrum (AKA red-shift). Conversely, stars moving toward a relative position contract the light toward the blue spectrum (blue-shift).

Therefore, in relation to the finish line in a race, regardless whose car is faster, it will always turn blue. Physics is telling you blue is better!!!

From what I understand, ebony contains all colors so if an ebony colored Shelby races any other color, their other Shelby's color and energy is absorbed by my car and thus I would have the faster car - makes sense to me!! :D

Ah yes, the old reverse theorem rule! The red shift means the Red Shelby is moving away at massive speeds. The blue shift means the Blue Shelby is being TOWED back to the starting line, so its spectrum is therefore lengthened, appearing violet.

At the drag strip, the red car is hauling butt. The blue car is coming back at ya!

Does this mean that Red M&M's are better for you than Blue M&M's.

My god, it's full of stars!

Actually, Ebony is the absence of color. White is the spectrum of ALL colors. Therefore, black, not being burdened with having to carry all those other colors around in its wavelength, is just a smidgen faster than a white Shelby ;-)

Man, I need a beer.

When we all get our new Shelby's, we should go to a drag strip before we spend the grandkids inheritance on mods and see which color is faster. Personally, I am going to install a high wattage light at the rear of my car so the Photons give my Red Shelby an extra push.

WOW, interesting hypothesis. So, I ask the Shelby God: If a Shelby with a smaller pulley is faster than a Shelby with a larger pulley, then, small is good. Therefore if a Shelby with a small pulley is good, is a Shelby with NO pulley better? I base this on Einstien's Infinite Bank Theory of 1889 - which was first developed in a Bavarian tavern. If you can hit the cue ball hard enough on the opening shot, will ALL the balls go into a pocket?

The first Friday after I get my Shelby, which, hopefully should be in the next week or so, I am going to take it to Firebird Raceway (Phoenix) and do three 1/4 mile drags bone stock. I'll post the charts. Remember, it will be Torch Red so, it's just got to be fast.

I am picking it up in Indiana and driving it back to Phoenix. I think that is between 1600 and 1800 miles. I'll be good to go so long as I don't smash it on the way back.

I thought out trailering the car back, but heck, we live in a beautiful country and why not enjoy that beauty while driving the epitome of America, a 2007 Shelby muscle car from Ford. Life doesn't get any better.

I can post my route for the trip back and will be glad to stop at places on the way to show it off.

Ya know Shelby07, I just thought about something. I'll take my one of my laptops that has a Verizon broadband card and my digital camera. I can post photos of the trip back, showing the Shelby in different places along the way. Kind of an 'Excellent Adventure With The New Shelby' trip.

Hopefully with other cars or interesting prople and places in the photos. 'Maybe' even a few 'kills' if you know what I mean.

How about a Shelby 1800 mile Travel log forum? As soon as I have the date that I will be travelling back, I'll post that data.

Here is something I hope I never hear from the radio of my new Shelby:

"I've just picked up a fault in the AE35 unit. It's going to go 100% failure in 72 hours."

I was actually getting frantic back in May trying to find one as had been on a bunch of dealers lists for well over a year. Made hundreds of calls to as many dealers. Finally end of may I was able to secure an order. A few minutes after I arrived home from dealer another dealer called and said the first 2 people on list decided not to buy. I sent him a deposit thinking if my name is on enough lists I may be able to end up with ONE! Well only a couple weeks after the first two were ordered got another magic call.

With all the games dealers were playing I never expected to actually get more than one. Now all 3 happened to be ligit. I am now frantically selling off other cars & parts so I can afford at least 2 of them. One of the 3 I will probably sell unless my ship comes in very soon! My banker loves me for the first two. Deep pockets not even close just good credit.

Actually started to sell of the old stuff back early in year because I felt confident I could find one at a decent price. I REALLY wanted a new Shelby & did what I had to do to find and buy one/them. 2nd car has been on train since Monday. (built over a month ago) Wish I knew exactly where it was about now. I would say its getting close to the windy city. Hopefully I will have it a week or so from now. How am I going to pay for them? I have no CLUE!

Has anyone here driven both the Coupe and Convert GT500's?

Pretty exciting to be getting so close to owning both a coupe and convert.

If the car is actually on the train, it should be there within 10 days I think. The problem with mine was that it sat at Autoport for 9 days waiting for enough car buddies to fill up a rail car going to the same drop point! Ok
After reading this thread all the way through I'm gonna have to weigh in.

White definitely HAS to be the fastest color... It's the color Carroll Shelby picked originally. In '65, when Mr. Shelby did the pickin', you could have your Shelby in any color you wanted, as long as you wanted white. All the R Models were white. Weren't all the B-production winners in white? I'm sure extensive research was done by the factory racing guys for that choice of color. Who can doubt the man whose name is on your fender?

If any of you doubt my word, just write to Dr. Frank Zizzo, The Shelby Doc @ SAAC and ask him. He seems to have a scientific explanation for anything Shelby related.

Yes it was the first color, but Carrol Shelby has gone on record saying that Blue is his favoriite color . Mark Donahue painted his first GT350 Blue to be diferent. If it is good enough for these two pioneers it must be the fastest. So in conclusion Blue is the fastest! ;)

OK, you make a decent point, Cajun. But, the original white wasn't really white. It was almost a cream color. Today's white is really white. :D

Your thoughts might change as time goes on. The first time someone tries to pass it off as real, your thoughts may change. I have seen it to many times.
