: What is your latest info on your Shelby?
oldimp 08-09-2006, 11:37 AM I was trying to see where a couple of forum members stood on getting their Shelby and it wasn't as easy I would have thought! I know some of us are really close to getting theirs and others are awaiting VINs or on Material Hold or whatever. If you could update us on this thread, we could just look for your most current post here to see what the latest is on your car!
After a bunch of us get them, we can start another thread with the delivery dates!
I'm bored!
ssss07 08-09-2006, 11:47 AM All I have been able to get from my dealer is the vin#1ZVHT88S475225076. They have said it would deliver this week but now they wont say. I have checked my vin against some others and there seems to be a difference in the letters, maybe they sold me a Ford 500 for 10k over msrp. very depressing week for me.
LOOK N GO 08-09-2006, 01:01 PM Hello Oldimp,I'm still eating humble pie. I have yet to receive VIN. It seems I sould invest the monies I gathered up for my SHELBY and buy a 6 month CD.
Put me in the dreamer/ fantasy column or the sucker deposit column. You all will be the first to know when I get my VIN. If I was to tell anyone else, they may tilt there head and give me the have you been drinking look. I know what that look is, I get it all the time:)

Just for the hell of it can we change your handle to VNMOUS2.It would be more appropriate.LOL.
iam still on the roller coaster and very dizzy.i dont know where she is the stripe shop, the pigeon coup, on the train, on the truck or just lost. it is definetely not at the dealer
dsabldvt 08-09-2006, 03:22 PM My dealer told me yesterday that it could still be next month or more til I get scheduled since all the SVT and presidents need to get built 1st. I bet I won't get it til the end of the year if then. Since I am getting it for 200 under MSRP I can wait a little longer since I've wanted one since I saw one in '67. I saw one in a dealership today that sold to someone in Mexico over e-bay for $69995.00.
Here is my info.

ShelbyTom 08-09-2006, 06:13 PM $200 Under MSRP?...Where can I sign up?........
My status is that I still do not have a VIN.
That meanes I am with LOOK N GO in the dreamer/ fantasy column or the sucker deposit column. ...............................
$200 Under MSRP...........You are definitely buying dinner when we all meet in the future.
busababy 08-09-2006, 07:05 PM I am not holding my breath, but according to the dealer should have it before the end of the month. Mine is build (Thank you 07 Shelby for the great news) so now just wait for the phone call. Believe it or not I am not that stressed about it... a few months ago it was killing me.. I was a strong member of the "I want my Shelby Now Club" but now just letting time go by. People at work ask "When you getting your car" my answer is sometime this year and than I walk away. Hopefully will get more pumped about it when I know the dealer has it... I feel like I am missing the fire inside like I use to have...maybe just burned out on it so now I am numb :(
Barcelona 08-09-2006, 07:08 PM I bought mine from a dealer in Washington state to be dropped shipped to my dealer here in California. My California dealer tells me it'll be here Aug 18th but the selling dealer in Washington says he doesn't have a vin or invoice yet. So, who knows? The number 1 guy there got his car a week ago so I'm confirmed for the next one.
According to Ford rumors they are likely coming out soon with a cheaper GT350 available to the public. We'll know more next week. If this happens I suspect it'll take a lot of pressure off GT500 sales and start pushing the price down closer to MSRP for the 500. Does anyone agree with my logic or am I off base? The longer I wait the more reluctant I am to pay a $10,000 premium over MSRP for this car. That's my dilemma.
dsabldvt 08-09-2006, 07:50 PM I still am worried that my dealer will honor the $200 under MSRP, but I do have it in writing. I think you are right about the premiums coming down. I had to look long and hard to find my dealer and because he isn't a high volume dealer I wiil have a long wait. It is at least giving me plenty of tiime to hear all the good and bad from everyone on this site. I really appreciate being a part of it. I am reconsidering my stripes and the sirius radio(because of the antenna). The car I saw today had white stripes and I know painted ones would look 100% better.

the dealers must have all got together on the 10k over msrp. think the rumor about the gt350 is probably the shelby gt that they just announced yesterday. you can view it at stangsunleashed.com. its a 325 hp consumer version of the new hurst gt "rent a racer"
ssss07 08-10-2006, 06:22 AM I wouldnt get too caught up in the svt, presidents award dealers getting their cars first guys. Did you get a copy of the dealer order, or maybe a copy of the DORA? I think you can take the order number and call the Ford Customer Service number and possibly get a little more information than you have. But, I wouldn't count on any ETDs they give you as being accurate.
I am wondering what priority code your dealership gave you. Mine gave me a 10 and the other guy that ordered his on the same day got a lower priority (higher number) but, I don't know what it was. I know that the Ford Rep told my dealership that they could expect their second car in Oct-Nov time frame. If your priority is higher than 10, you might expect a similar date.
If you don't have copies of these two documents, see if your dealership will give them to you.
oldimp 08-10-2006, 07:51 AM All I have been able to get from my dealer is the vin#1ZVHT88S475225076. They have said it would deliver this week but now they wont say. That is a Shelby VIN for sure. I had my VIN a long time before I got the car, but it is a huge step and you are past that one! Were you ever given a build date? If you did, it looks like five or six weeks after that you should be getting it. That is purely a guess around what I know it took me to get mine!
oldimp 08-10-2006, 08:01 AM LOOK N GO, Shelby101 and rpretzel,
Did you guys get copies of the dealer order or the DORA? I was just interested in comparing the priorities you were given. FYI, I was given priority 10 on the dealer order and that changed to 01 on the DORA.
oldimp 08-10-2006, 08:06 AM iam still on the roller coaster and very dizzy.i dont know where she is the stripe shop, the pigeon coup, on the train, on the truck or just lost. it is definetely not at the dealer
Tino, I'm telling you, you are on the verge of getting your Shelby! You are at the exact same point I was when I completely lost it and just gave up! It was here the next day! You will be driving it soon!
oldimp 08-10-2006, 08:19 AM My dealer told me yesterday that it could still be next month or more til I get scheduled since all the SVT and presidents need to get built 1st. I saw one in a dealership today that sold to someone in Mexico over e-bay for $69995.00.
You may be right about the time frame. My dealership is SVT and they were told that they would see their third car next year. I think Jan-Feb probably. Did you get an order number or copy of the DORA? What were the priority codes?

I think your date might hold up, but I would tend to focus on about two weeks after that! Then you would probably get it early than you expect! Stay off the roller coaster! You need the Produced Date and the Release to Gate Date, then you can predict a touch better.
rpretzel 08-10-2006, 08:25 AM LOOK N GO, Shelby101 and rpretzel,
Did you guys get copies of the dealer order or the DORA? I was just interested in comparing the priorities you were given. FYI, I was given priority 10 on the dealer order and that changed to 01 on the DORA.
Yeah, I got a copy of the DORA. I'm getting my dealer's first (and probably only) Shelby. The priority code is 10.
I also got a copy of everything the dealer had on order at the time I placed my order (3 vehicles, including mine), and mine had the highest priority.
I want my Shelby and I want it now!!!
oldimp 08-10-2006, 08:51 AM I bought mine from a dealer in Washington state to be dropped shipped to my dealer here in California. Barcelona,
If you are getting it this month, there has to be a VIN already! The dealers that are getting them close together must be getting Power Lease cars or some other high priority. My dealer is getting the second car about three months after the first one (mine) that just came in last week.
I just called my sales manager buddy to see if he would give me some additional information on the second car. That guy does not have a VIN, and his dealer priority is 10, same as mine was. The dealership had mine pulled first is apparently the only difference. They are expecting his Oct-Nov time frame.
As for your dilemma, I don't think I could have paid $10k over. Maybe we could have still afforded it, but it gets in that price range where we probably would have considered it too pricey for us. As for the Shelby GT, it just seems like a modified GT to me and I already have one of those! A Shelby GT350 probably would have interested me, and that might happen, too! I would be very surprised if the Shelby GT decreases the interest in the GT500!
Do some soul searching and make up your own mind! You only have to please yourself! Decisions, decisions!
oldimp 08-10-2006, 09:05 AM Yeah, I got a copy of the DORA. I'm getting my dealer's first (and probably only) Shelby. The priority code is 10.
I also got a copy of everything the dealer had on order at the time I placed my order (3 vehicles, including mine), and mine had the highest priority.

I scanned back over your posts to see if I could find this, but didn't see it. Is your dealer SVT, SVT Full dealer or President's Award? My dealership is all three, so that probably helped me a lot. If the answer is yes, I have to guess you would be in this first wave somewhere, between now and October. If non-SVT, I would guess the last quarter of this year. If the priority on the DORA is 10, I think there are higher priorities. Mine was 01 on the DORA, but 10 on the dealer order.
This is all speculation on my part based on what I know about mine and the second one at my dealership plus the information I have learned from you guys. We will all get smarter at this as time goes by!

LOOK N GO 08-10-2006, 11:45 AM Thanks Oldimp for taking time on all this info today . My Vehical Order Confirmation sheet I got from the dealer says Order no:1000 Priority:11 Order Type:1 Price Level 700 Order Code 820A. I'm the number 2 guy at my dealer. They got there second order because of Focus SVT sales. It is painful to see all the black Shelbys on E-bay, I'm hang'n in there.
I think your date might hold up, but I would tend to focus on about two weeks after that! Then you would probably get it early than you expect! Stay off the roller coaster! You need the Produced Date and the Release to Gate Date, then you can predict a touch better.Oldimp - I received some info from the dealer and it has Dora processed 7/14/06 with a priorty 1. I believe the produced date is 8/7/06 and then it has 8/28 53*552 RET - is this the release to gate date? Do you think I will get the Shelby by late Aug or early Sept? Thanks.
rpretzel 08-10-2006, 12:32 PM rpretzel, Just to clarify my first two cars are both power lease cars. One for a Lightning other for a Cobra Convert. My 3rd car is a normal order like everyone else's. I will post on 3rd car when I hear something. 3rd car I am first on list, car has been ordered for months with DORA in hand just waiting for the build info.
Thanks for the clarification, EbonyGT500. That makes me feel a little better. :)
i hate to burst everybody bubble but mine was built on 6/12/06 with a del. date of 7/7/06 and i am still waiting
ssss07 08-10-2006, 02:31 PM sssss07 Are you trying to insinuate I am not getting 2 cars very soon?
See next post. 3 cars on order but 3rd is like everyone else's and not a PL car.
If so would be glad to give you the specs.
First car a Black Coupe with Crimson Interior, Prem Int Upgrade, Sirius Radio,
upper stripe delete, white lower. Released from plant on 7/31
Second car is a Red Convertible with same options as above but no crimson interior. Scheduled to be built!
3rd car is a Black Coupe with ZERO options and both upper and lower stripe delete. When? no word yet. waiting like everyone else.
By the way I am a SVT certified tech
2007 GT500 Tech Certified
2007 Shelby Sales Certified Specialist
2007 Shelby New Product Info Certified
2007 Mustang Certified
plus a bunch more
If you would like would be glad to send my DORA reports in my name to a moderator.
ahhh....mmmm....no
im just saying there seems to be no pattern as to who gets what and when from what had been stated . there was a post few months ago about the pecking order on recieving cars but it doesnt seem to work that way all the time, unless u r jay leno. as I have posted in the past i know svt/presidents dealers who have not recieved the first car and i know non svt and non presidents dealers that have recieved cars. what i get from that is maybe the dealers making noise ( the "itch" ) and keeping on top of things are getting cars before the ones in pecking order. I dont get it either because i didnt even order mine until june 8,2006 and they have told me to expect it august 12. dont think anyone in here needs for you to "prove" stuff to us. i have no reason to not believe you are getting 3.

Aldy, I am just trying to evaluate the information you give me in comparison to what I had. I could be way off, but I really think five weeks after the production date is a good estimate! I don't know how much good the priority 1 does at this point in the game! I think with a little luck you could see it right at the end of the month or early September. Mine made it in about six weeks after production date and it sat through the two week shut down and waited for nine days to get on a train! You won't have the shut down to hinder you and you could get lucky with the train or even go by convoy, which is faster I think! You are essentially in the "short strokes" in my opinion!
I don't know what the 53*552 RET means. We'll need the expert on that one!
WSANVAL 08-10-2006, 06:45 PM Thanks Tino I didn't forget about you just been busy. They expect me to work also. What nerve.

The latest from my dealer is that her delivery report is showing my car due to be delivered on 8/17...It was just built on 8/8, and waiting for stripes like so many of us...I think there is a lot of conflicting info. coming from everywhere but 07 SHELBY...tino, don't take this the wrong way...but do you know for a fact your car was built on 6/12?? A two month wait after being built seems a bit excessive...Perhaps when 07 comes back (He's getting his car today!) he can do a follow-up for you....But come to think of it, oldimp's was built on 6/16 and delivered on 8/2...You should be very close.

Maybe his car is stuck way in the back of the inventory lot, and they just can't get to it to put it on a truck.
mine was built before the two week shutdown of july 4 .then when they came back from vacation it got pulled after inspection. there was a problem with the rear gas cap emblem and the rear facia . that has been taken care of and it was shipped over to autoport for stripes on 8/25/06 that is the reason for the long wait. i was hoping it would of got pushed to the front of the line but i guess not. all the info has been supplied by 07. he has been very helpfull. if 07 did not supply the info i would never believe my dealers info because he don't even know where the car is

STRIPES, you are correct sir(no kidding). We don't put the stripes on here it is done by another company accross the street. After hearing all the stories about Helen Keller and Stevie Wonder putting on stripes I took heed.I made a couple phone calls and got an appointment with the best striper they have and it seems he is a little busy.Wonder why?So it is suppose to come back today or tomorrow and then get shipped.Guess what,I'll be out of town Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday. You know what I'll be thinking about the whole time. But you already know what it's like to wait,eh Vnmous1.

oldimp 08-12-2006, 04:18 PM mine was built before the two week shutdown of july 4 .then when they came back from vacation it got pulled after inspection. there was a problem with the rear gas cap emblem and the rear facia . that has been taken care of and it was shipped over to autoport for stripes on 8/25/06 that is the reason for the long wait. i was hoping it would of got pushed to the front of the line but i guess not. all the info has been supplied by 07. he has been very helpfull. if 07 did not supply the info i would never believe my dealers info because he don't even know where the car is
Tino! I just knew you were going to get your car really soon! What great information 07 SHELBY came up with! I bet you get it by Wednesday! Good luck to you! I know it has been a long difficult wait!
busababy 08-12-2006, 05:51 PM My dealer told me it was coming this month... maybe he will be right according to 07. After ordering 4 new vehicles in my life this will be the first time that the time frame I was told is true... but since I don't have it yet I am not holding my breath. To many others on the board have been told there car is done and still waiting for it. :(
turbo 08-12-2006, 06:28 PM i took delivery on my shelby today, whilte with blue stripes. it really looks great. i just sold a 03 porsche turbo with 540 horsepower and the shelby is not nearly as quick as the posche, but i wasnt expecting it to be. it is plenty fast, rides good and the quality seems to be there. it got a lot of looks on the way home and a vette tried to pick a race lol. good luck to all of you who are still waiting, the car is worth it
Kickstand 08-12-2006, 07:10 PM Thanks for the update 07, Good luck to all of us getting stripes
thanks oldlimp i got the same color combo as you the only thing that i herd washing the car leaves the engine soaked. is that true ...............tino.........
EbonyGT500 08-12-2006, 11:45 PM nothing new
07 SHELBY 08-13-2006, 03:34 AM Is it possible to have car shipped without stripes? Coupe is upper stripe delete but has lower.
If convert is scheduled for production on August 28th is it too late to have side stripe deleted?
How many cars are they behind on striping?
Is Autoport the striping company or the shipper/transport?
Yes
Don't know

oldimp 08-13-2006, 06:24 AM thanks oldlimp i got the same color combo as you the only thing that i herd washing the car leaves the engine soaked. is that true ...............tino.........
It gets wet in there, but mostly forward of the engine I think! We had a Mustang show here yesterday (rain or shine!) in the pouring rain and there was a good bit of water under the hood, but from the supercharger on back it looked dry to me.
I did notice that after driving over there in the rain, there was some muddy water on the under side of the hood way up front. So, if you want to keep the engine compartment pristine, and you get caught in the rain, you need check the engine compartment out! Mine got pretty dirty, but again, not on the engine itself.
On another note, even though conditions were horrible, my Shelby was the "life of the party"! Many souls braved the rain just to walk around it and peek through the windows. I was very proud! It got lots of compliments!
milezperhour 08-13-2006, 05:44 PM Mine was delivered to the dealership on the 4th, and in my hands on the 7th. Oh joy, how sweet she is. But i was a little disappointed. After all the time, money, and energy spent on building this beauty, you'd think Carroll and Ford would use metal vice plastic for the signature "cobra". Up close, makes it look cheap. They could have used polished titanium. That little bit would have made a world of difference, and wouldn't rust. Also look close at fender, hood alignment and gaps. As well as for little brown spots (specs of grease) which came off the carrier. Mine is getting "cleaned", since it wasn't COMPLETELY covered for shipping. Cars other then white will be hard to see, so plan on having your dealer clean it, they are there. Look at all your welded seams on the underside of hood, trunk lid. And at the leading edges of the stripes. Found some beaded clearcoat on the edge of the trunk lid also. Look at the paint where the panels meet for obvious signs of pealing.
2008Shelby 08-14-2006, 07:36 AM I called Ford Customer service this morning and they told me my Shelby "HAS LEFT THE FACTORY"!!! :D Does this mean it has been striped and is actually on the way??? Oh please please please say yes!
oldimp 08-14-2006, 09:39 AM I called Ford Customer service this morning and they told me my Shelby "HAS LEFT THE FACTORY"!!! :D Does this mean it has been striped and is actually on the way??? Oh please please please say yes!
In my experience, I have found the customer service information to be a little inaccurate to say the least. If you have been checking with them on a daily basis and they just told you this, then it most likely is "Released to Gate". That means it has left the production plant, but doesn't mean it has the stripes applied. If you know you were already released to gate, then it may actually be shipped! Then again, it could be sitting there like mine did waiting for a few more cars going to the same place to fill up a rail car! No matter how you look at it, if someone says it has left the factory, that is good news! Good luck to you!
2008Shelby 08-14-2006, 11:04 AM Thanks Oldimp,
I just spoke with the dealer and their progress report shows an arrival date of Aug 18th or 19th /fingers crossed/. I'm a nervous wreck! Will it be here (get excited) or is it a false alarm (more delays) :D
BTW, I;m getting the same color combo as You (Performance White/Blue stripes). Thanks for the pics!
EbonyGT500 08-14-2006, 11:31 AM still waiting
shlbysvt 08-14-2006, 01:15 PM Was just notified today when I called Ford cutomer service that I have gone from material hold to sub to plant and was given two schedule dates of 8/28/06 and 9/4/06.
I have a call into my dealer for a Vin # but he said his systems were down and he would call back.
Can any one assist in this new information and what it all means? Help!!
i was at a local car show in massapequa ny and there was a 2007 shelbt gt 500 there.i met the guy who just pick the car up two weeks ago. he said he was very happy with the car except for the stripes. he showed me the on front bumper they peice it together right on top of the bumper over lapping one stripe to another does anybody know if this is the same for all shelbys.........tino..........
EbonyGT500 08-14-2006, 03:11 PM Still waiting
shlbysvt 08-14-2006, 03:17 PM Sounds like our cars are going to be built same day/week.
The 8/28 9/4 is the build between dates. the sub is submit to plant it also means you have a VIN number. The submit to plant and VIN probably happened a week or more ago.
I called cust service for the fun of it and was told same dates. the gal who was very nice sid the 9/4 is expected delivery at dealer! I knew it meant build between 8/28-9/4
If they give you just a date 8/28 for build it means week of.
Far as I know they are still maxed out at 25 Shelby's built per day.
Just got my Vin# 1ZVHT88SX75235563
Thanks for the info on build between dates.
Will be sending 07 a PM on the vin for his feed back.
Would be nice for us to have cars built in the same week. Keep in touch and we could celebrate together.
dsabldvt 08-14-2006, 04:09 PM I talked to customer service today and they said mine is on material hold. Last time I talked to mt dealer he said he didn't really have any info on it. He did say it would probably be Sept. or later before I get it. Since he has quoted me $200 under MSRP I bet it will be later. I still don't have a VIN.
Jbahoffman 08-14-2006, 07:48 PM Are you buying from an svt/ or PA dealer?????
Any of you???
Or are we to the Dealers who had to be certified yet??
Thank you!!!!

dsabldvt 08-14-2006, 08:37 PM My dealer is a non- certified dealer from a small town dealership. Hopefully I will see my car this year.

Tino, we haven't heard from you in a couple of days, did you get your Shelby? That is one good reason I could think of that would occupy your time so much that you wouldn't be on the forum! I sure hope you have it!

I've looked at 2 gt500's and they both hand the over lapping of the stripes on front and rear bumper. they must be using stripe kits and not pulling and cutting off rolls.
smitty i did not here anything yet. it is been one week already and counting. as soon as i here you all will be the first to know.about the stripes i am very dissapointed that they overlapped the stripes on the front bumpers they could of done a better job on this being a hi end car.....tino......
busababy 08-17-2006, 06:05 PM The dealer called me last week and said this was the week I will have the car... well it is thursday so he has 2 days....I really didn't believe it.... I have ordered a few new cars and it seems the date they tell you is always off. The closest was 3 days off on a Mustang, and the worst case was 3 1/2 weeks on a Dakota that I ordered new. So hoping for next week some time to take ownership and start changeing things :)

I sure hope you have heard something by now, but wanted to offer my two cents about the stripes. I am a little disappointed about them, too. I actually took the car to my paint and body guy to ask him about painting the stripes on. He didn't think that was a great idea. He also told me that the stripes have to overlap to end up looking straight while going over all the contours and angles. He said it is a really difficult job. The misalignments on mine are very minor and you would have to be looking for them (like I was!) to even notice them. They remain a slight negative among so many positives that I think we will be able to live with them.
Now, please tell us you have your car!

dsabldvt 08-19-2006, 11:48 PM Your car look's awesome 07. You really deserve getting it with all the help you have given to the forums. I can hardley wait to get behind the wheel of mine and feel that surge of power and feel the whole car lift when you step on it. I made some changes to mine on Friday. After all the info on this forum and others, I decided to delete the stripes on top and the sirius radio. I also changed the color to Alloy with silver side stripes. I didn't like the idea of the hole in the trunk lid and I have the sirius in my wifes car and we don't use it and also they are both in financial trouble. On the stripes, I decided if I really want them later I will have them painted on or else applied later. I changed colors because the dark Alloy is really pretty and it was my second choice and my wife likes it better than white. My wife still is not crazy about me getting this car so I am compromising on some things to help her come around better. Since my car is still on material hold, my dealer siad he could make the changes without any problem. I asked if the changes would affect our deal($200 under MSRP) and he said it would lower the price a little. If I make it through this with the deal as is, it may be a miracle, or else someone up there likes me. I know , like many others on here , I look forward to all the pictures and analysis you and others can provide we that are still without

Thanks I couldn't be happier.I wouldn't change a thing.I love the color, stripes,Sirius radio and the Shaker 1000.Yes we still have some Shaker 1000's left.
I know a lot of you have been counting on me for info,I haven't had time lately mostly cause I haven't been to work in a week and the week before that my Shelby was getting built. Now that I am out of my own way I will see what I can find out.I can tell you this much, you are really going to like this Shelby and it is worth the wait.
My daughter and I went to the Woodward Dream Cruise yesterday and we were a big hit.Even the cops were taking pictures and shaking my hand. This Cruise is a big thing here in Michigan.People from all over the world flock here to be a part of this.Do a Google search for info.Last year there were 1.7 million people here. The actual Cruise was yesterday but it runs heavy for a month and people cruise Woodward all summer long.During the 1960's and 1970's Woodward Ave. was the place to go if you had a muscle car and even more if you wanted to see them. You can see any car you want,it is there.Well later, I think the wife wants to Cruise Woodward today.Having a ball in Michigan.......................07................. .........

It is easy to remove. You have to disconnect the battery because it is the passenger side airbag.I never did it before and it took 20 minutes.

If I took it off and mailed to the Shelby's Childrens Foundation, should I not try to reconnect the battery or is it safe without it temporarily?

any news on our cars today
busababy 08-21-2006, 12:50 PM Just got the call from the dealer... my shelby has arrived. I will pick it up Wednesday morning... well a car company will be picking it up and bringing it home, I can't see driving it for 2 1/2 hours on interstate so $ 250.00 to have it Trailer to my house seems fair. Talking off Thursday as well to break in the engine on a 300 + mile run up the mountains of West Virginia where I can go thru all the gears and put the motor on a load. Than dump the oil at 500 with fresh Mobil Syn. Next exhaust will be put on Wednesday night... my neighbors thought it was bad me having 3 sport bikes in my garage and tuning on them well....they have no idea what they are in for :)
home seems like a deal.

Do you recommend Mobil Synthetic versus other brands?
home seems like a deal.
busababy 08-21-2006, 03:08 PM I use mobil in my 2005 Hayabusa, 2003 RC51, 2003 ZZR1200 and on the busa I run the hell out of that bike.. red line 11,500 had it 175mph and the oil is great. Read up on all brands of oil in a review and Mobil and Castrol came out on top. Either one is the way to go... Ford oil is just repackaged from one of the other vendors.

07 SHELBY 08-22-2006, 10:44 AM Ok I have had my Shelby for 4 days now and I would like to say I just love it.As soon as I got it home on Friday I changed my axle backs. Now it sounds like a Shelby should. That was my biggest issue with this car, solved. Then I changed out the passenger side airbag that had Carroll Shelby's signature, done. Then I changed out a few plastic parts on the interior to triple chrome,I liked it so much I bought more.Saturday I took my daughter to the Woodward Dream Cruise.I was getting pulled over by the cops so they could take pictures.I think every Cobra there found me.Everyone loved the car.All the mustang owners loved the way it sounds.Sunday my wife told me we were going cruising.Yeh ok thats right up my alley.Monday I had to go back to work, bummer.
With all that said,it is the coolest car I have ever owned. For $45,000 where else can you get 500 HP.It is very fun to drive and with all the torque you have you forget about how much it weighs.I have had a down payment on this car for over 2 years then when I went to order it the dealer f**ked me.I still found another dealer at $5,000 over MSRP.I went through the whole Shelby roller coaster like the rest of you but I wouldn't have done it any other way. This car handles absolutely perfect and when you want raw power it is there.I have had 4 Vettes turn me down on 1/4 mile.I haven't had 1 cobra that wanted to go at it but I am waiting. One thing is for sure I will have this car a very long time.................07...........................

ssss07 08-22-2006, 12:39 PM Ok I have had my Shelby for 4 days now and I would like to say I just love it.As soon as I got it home on Friday I changed my axle backs.
One thing is for sure I will have this car a very long time.................07...........................
some one (like people who have already done it) needs to start a thread on accessories for dress up and performance, where to purchase, cost and what they did like you have some 07shelby

Amen, brother! I did the J10 (battery disconnect) as called for in the PDI (that my dealer didn't do). Car idles smoother. Like 07 says, accellerates like a striped assed ape (they're really fast....you've never seen one, have you??). Handles like it's on rails. Was taking it to the dealer this morning for some service when a guy in an Audi 6 (sport pkg) came up and simply said "Hey, that car is bas assss!". (There's that word again, sorry) He said he saw it coming up in the mirror and knew exactly what it was.
For those that DO know, it's instant recognition and approval. For those that don't, it's just a phenomenal looking Mustang and that gets approval, too!
My wife said it well...."THIS sort of attention was why you pay a little over MSRP. It's fun to be first. " I told her to be careful where she says that or we may have another chunk of rock tossed on the hood!!
BTW, 07, I ordered the exhaust after we talked the other day. The video made me try them. Should be here in a couple of days. Thank you, eBay!!

rpretzel 08-22-2006, 01:02 PM So, I just called Ford customer service. My Shelby is still on Material Hold with no VIN#, but now it is showing a "Last Maintenance Date" of 08/18/2007. Does anyone know what this date means? Is it good news that there was some sort of activity?
VNMOUS1 08-22-2006, 02:01 PM So, I just called Ford customer service. My Shelby is still on Material Hold with no VIN#, but now it is showing a "Last Maintenance Date" of 08/18/2007. Does anyone know what this date means? Is it good news that there was some sort of activity?
Material hold means nothing more than they don't have the materials right there to build your car because it's not scheduled yet....not the other way around. In other words, you're not delayed because of parts/materials not being available.
Last maintenance date reflects any time that anything has been done regarding your car....even before it's built. They may have been pulling for your dealer's allocation (and perhaps your car if you have the lowest priority number at your dealer for a Shelby). CS computers are not updated in real time. They are updated twice weekly. Many times it doesn't properly reflect much of anything. Just for grins, I called CS the Monday after I'd already had 600 miles on mine......it said it was 'released to gate" but no record of a shipper picking it up yet.
Have your dealer contact their rep and ask if a VIN has been assigned. He/she will find out more than you can through CS. Cars are beginning to move a LOT quicker now that some of the backlog is done. The striped coupes realllly slowed things down, as did the Shaker 1000s (just kidding, but I knew that would get a smile out of 07)
bj
rpretzel 08-22-2006, 02:10 PM Thanks, VNMOUS1. My dealer recieved their official allocation letter from Ford, and it confirms that they are getting one Shelby, and it's mine. (Very small dealer). I think I'll take your advice, and ask my dealer to talk to the region rep.
I find it interesting that one of the largest and most technically advanced auto makers in the world can't give their customer service folks real-time access to data. These days, a car can be build almost entirely by robots, but a customer service rep can't tell you if it's built yet. Goofy!

'07 is right....on all counts. From the order to the build to the transport to delivery. You can't imagine what's really happening behind the curtain!
For example, did you know it's UPS that handles all the logistics for Ford? Going by train? Not until UPS says so. Some truck driver holding your Shelby hostage? No one else may know where it is, but UPS does.
The problem for regular "Joes" like us is that we don't have access to UPS at that level. Neither does Ford Customer Service. But think about it....if we did, or they did, they'd NEVER get anything shipped. We'd all be bugging the hell out of them. :D
Rpretzel, if you're in a small market, with a small volume dealer....PA winner or not, it takes time. Think about the sheer numbers. They had built less than 600 as of my build date (6/27), so they're probably around 2,000 by now. Then consider the large market, high volume, PA, Powerlease, full line SVT, Focus SVT....blah, blah, blah....that will all be in front of your dealer. Remember, some dealers are literally "all of the above". I'm in Chicago and I'll tell you there are less than 10 in the entire metro at this time!!! And THAT's a lot of high volume dealers!!!
As '07, Oldimp, me....and many more have said, it's worth the wait.
Breathe innnnnnnn......hold it.....breathe ooouuuutttttt. Ommmmmmmmm.

rpretzel 08-22-2006, 05:01 PM Thanks again, VNMOUS1 and 07. I was being over simplistic of the process comment. It sure sounds like quite a maze of a process. I'm a very process-oriented person, and Ford makes me cringe.
And, yes, I'm being a complete freak about this wait. I've just been seeing more and more non-SVT guys getting VINs assigned, and I want mine too. :o

All that sounds like good news, bj! I got my exhaust on yesterday! My oldest son came out and helped me install them and that made it more enjoyable!
We need to start thinking about a get together that would work for as many folks as possible! 07 SHELBY is hoping for September and we have discussed Northern Virginia to Southern Ohio area. Let's try some serious communications about this!

Oh, man, you have the office just about sewn up, rpretzel! And if you don't have the VIN yet, you might have a long term in office! You may not be whining any louder than the rest of us have, but you certainly have gotten an early start!
Go out and get yourself a good Sudoku puzzle book! That helped me a little bit!

EbonyGT500 08-23-2006, 01:43 AM Still Waiting
oldimp 08-23-2006, 03:46 AM Ever heard of a broken down train? Guess which one my Shelby is on?
40 miles in 7 hrs?
The train came within 20 miles of my house and now its going to take another 2 days to depot? Then another 24hrs to unload?
The car better make up for the waiting game.
A car that was supposed to be delivered by July 4th then every week or so since? Took a month to go where I could drive in a day and a half...
This car is a PRIORITY code 00 yes ZERO ZERO. What will ford do with a 10, 11 or 12 or higher priority code?
A Power Lease car that takes many months?
Ok, OK, Ok my gripe is in.
I guess rpretzel could use a good Vice Prez! Hang in there, Ebony! It is well worth the wait!

Interesting to say the least tracking the car!
Its now 3.85 miles from its destination and I still gotta' wait.
Possible to get it tomorrow but not lookin' to good. Guess I can live if not until Friday. Not sure I can make another weekend with out it as the wait is killin' me.
Advice for others: If you can DO NOT track it by the minute!
I have been plotting it out on a map every 30 seconds. Just hit refresh to see how far its moved. Come to find out its moved as far as I have since it left AAI 2 weeks ago!
Enough grumpin' for today...............
Wife thinks I am going to "Sleep in The Darn Thing" for at least the first week to make sure when I wake up its nearby.
Good to see you over here, too. It's a small, but dedicated group of Shelby nuts without all the smack talk.

LOOK N GO 08-23-2006, 07:34 PM Still no VIN for me, but I saw my first Shelby today. Blue with white stripes W/ Mich. tags heading south on Rt. 7 just off 81. The driver was a blond bomber smoken' a cig. windows down, two lanes over. I was drive'n my wife's Mach 1, stuck in city traffic I couldn't hear or chase that car down. Oh well, maybe next time.
busababy 08-23-2006, 08:05 PM Well I got my Shelby today. Left the house at 6:30 for my 2.5 hour drive to the dealer, had all the finance done before I got there so just needed to sign 100 pieces of paper and give them my money and had them finance the rest. Interest rate 6.15 which is okay was hoping for 5% but no big deal. The trucking company was there at 9:30 A.M. to load the car up and haul it to my house. Took it out for about 70 miles this afternoon. Tomorrow have a vacation day to put the exhaust on and put a couple hundred miles on it. Will give a full report ASAP. Only pictures I have it from the dealership which I will post up tomorrow night. I can tell you it has smooth power in every gear and has seen 100mph already :) Pictures and video clips don't do it justice, when you see it in person it has a whole different effect. Had some people point at it, and one person in a new GT coming at me flashed his lights and gave it the thumbs up. Will update on everything (Good & wish list) ASAP.
Kickstand 08-23-2006, 08:21 PM Mine must have fallen in a black hole. Last I heard it was on a "Quality hold". Ive been told that could mean alot of things but nothing for sure. Ford Customer Service said ETA Aug 26th...(called again this morning and now they say between the 27th and Sept 3rd).:(

oldimp 08-24-2006, 01:32 PM Aldy,
Don't mean to butt in on busababy, but I just put a set of axle-backs on mine and it took about an hour. I ran the rear tires up on about one inch blocks and it was fairly unpainful. You need metric wrenches (13 and 15 mm, I think). It was a little harder removing the OEMs than installing the after market ones.
Kickstand ,
I know you hate to hear of them holding the car up, but in the long run you will get a better car because of this!

rpretzel 08-26-2006, 04:02 PM 2weeks to 2 months.
The more important question is...how much longer 'til I get my %#$&@ VIN#?
:D
07 SHELBY 08-27-2006, 12:32 PM Sorry Mr. Prez I can't answer that 1.
SDCobra 08-28-2006, 12:23 PM Could someone see if they can find out what the status is on my Shelby?
The VIN# is 1ZVHT88S775216744. It was built on August 1st. The Dealer is Drew Ford (California dealer 080).
As it is now Aug 28, I am wondering where in the !%$&* it is!
Any and all help is greatly appricated.
Thanks.
patient man 08-28-2006, 06:26 PM Newbie here, so bear with me. I ordered mine on July 31 and was told to not call for an update for 2 weeks. I gave them almost 4 and called today to see what's up. As most of you can guess, it's on material hold with no VIN#. They told me that it would probably be built the beginning of October and delivered either the end of October or the beginning of November. From what I've read here, that doesn't sound like the right time line. It sounds like most are waiting longer. I think my dealer maybe just trying to keep me happy so I don't call everyday. Is "material hold" technically the first step before you get a VIN#? Does anyone know if they build by region or just by orders?
I think I'll have a beer and pretend that my Shelby is locked safely in the garage....

Welcome to the board, Patient Man (I like that handle). And welcome to material hold hell. I've been there since March.
In general SVT dealers, President's Award winners and Power Lease holders will get their first allocation first, and then the just certified, non-SVT dealers will start getting theirs. There doesn't seem to be any logic to the fulfillment of the non-SVT orders. I've heard Ford randomly picks a certain number of dealers to fulfill every month, but that's just a guess. Material Hold seems to be a normal part of the process. All orders that Ford is not ready to pull are put on material hold. Once they are ready to pull your order, it comes off material hold and you are assigned a VIN, and then a build date. There's a rumor going around that all non-SVT 1st allocation orders will be scheduled by the end of the week (Sept 1), but I haven't heard any confirmation of that. I don't plan on seeing my Shelby until November or so.

That's true. I think the intent was to have some sort of order, but it seems it didn't quite goes as planned in all cases. This whole process kinda feels like a circus.

Any new information on our Vin#'s?
shlbysvt 08-29-2006, 05:19 PM Sorry guys I didn't do a lick today.I took my Shelby into the plant today.Every dept got to go over my car and evaluate it.The Mustang engineers and the project managers for the Shelby love the Ford Racing axle backs. They also liked all the chrome I put on it from MTW.Just a word of advice,I haven't had any problems but I put the original caps(radiator, intercooler and oil) in the trunk in case anyone steals them off the car I can still get home.I hope it never happens but don't want to be stranded.Love my Shelby!.........................07................ ............
We understand 07. Looking forward to your latest update. I will order the chrome tomorrow as I would like to do that by telephone as the cobra items do not seem to be listed quite yet on the site. I want to be sure the satin finish on 3d chrome is also ordered properly for the power outlet. I already made one mistake by ordering Steeda axel backs instead of the Ford Racing product.
where can you order the power outlet cover and the axel backs

You made no mistake.Steeda is exactly the same. They just cost a couple bucks more.Borla makes them for everyone and stamps each companies name on them. They are nice looking and sound soo much better than the stock mufflers. Not only do they sound great but when you stand behind the car, just enough of the chrome tip sticks out of the valance that you can read Ford Racing.................................07......... .....................
07 SHELBY 08-29-2006, 05:33 PM where can you order the power outlet cover and the axel backs
The power outlet plug is from MTW.You can order the axle backs from any where.I ordered mine from Livernois Motor Sports here in Michigan.

Thats my question 07. Will the exhaust tips and muffler say Ford or Steeda? I hope Ford. From your last post I assume Ford Racing will be stamped on both. If so I feel alot better.

LOVIN' mine! You were right '07. There IS a little harmonic garbage from 1750-1950rpms (65mph) but since I drive faster than that...I DON'T CARE!
They're sweet when they burble as you decel!
Saw a pair on eBay that some guy had here in town. He had them on a GT with headers and was stopped twice. Decided to sell them. Got 350 for them. I paid 379 from an eBay (store) seller in NY. They're now 429 from the same guys.
I'd like to find one of the faux (read: FAKE) red plastic "START" buttons to use as a cover for the 12v dash outlet.
BTW...they did a great color match but the clear didn't melt in so they have to do the entire hood again. Stripes were replaced by dealer. Unfortunately, the rear spoiler stripe replacement sucks as bad as the original. What a joke!
Otherwise...da car ROCKS!!! Dyno Saturday morning at 11am. I'll post!!

dsabldvt 08-29-2006, 08:10 PM I just received an e-mail from the Ford Partner Recognition Program confirms the rumor I heard recently about Ford changing it's warranty programs. We now have/will have a 5 year 60,000 mile limited powertrain warranty on all 2007 ford vehicles regardless of the date the car was aquired. I feel even better now about my decision to get the GT500. I just hope I will get my Vin someday.
ATL54 08-30-2006, 01:45 PM Hey, I'm a newbie on the Forum. I am waiting very impatiently for my Shelby. Build completed on 8/8, Dealer ETA was 8/16 but now the car is on hold in the stripe shop. According to my dealer, all Shelbys are on hold right now. Can NE1 confirm? Can NE1 trace by the VIN?

welcome to the forum. my build date was 8-9-06 and i have called customer service who said it was released. i called again today and they told me it was in transit and should be here any day. my car is also getting stripes so it doesnt make sense what ur dealer told u. maybe what ur dealer meant to say was, dont bother us.

rpretzel 08-30-2006, 02:49 PM I just talked to a guy who called Ford Customer Service today. They told him Shelbys are on "National Backorder" because there are more cars ordered than Ford had planned. Anyone have any idea what they meant by this? 07 Shelby?
I have a feeling that this is nothing new. Lost of orders in the system, and they are building them as they can. But I just wanted to throw it out since I've never heard this term used.
LOOK N GO 08-30-2006, 05:45 PM GUESS WHAT! I still have no VIN. So I changed the the order to scratch the siris radio. I'm a CD man anyway. My boy's leave has been pushed back twice till late Sept. and my personal salesman has heath issues. In perspective my needs are insignificant. It's weird,to have so much of my time focused on this this car, but it means so much for some dumb reason. I don't know what my reaction will be when I see her. I just hope the ones that are rooting for me are there to see it.

Please, don't get me wrong...I wasn't TRYING to be negative, just realistic. I've seen quite a few "Quality Hold" stories recently on several different boards. So far, no one can say why...just that ALL Shelbys are on hold. I have no idea if there is any truth to it, but a lot of people are being told this by Ford Customer Service, their dealers and regional reps.

Generally, material hold means Ford is not ready to pull your order yet for production. Once they get to your place in line, you should be taken off material hold and they'll assign a VIN and build date.

Material Hold Sucks! I want my Shelby!
(Sorry. I haven't whined in a while, so I had a little built up frustration)
Kickstand 09-05-2006, 12:43 PM Just got word mine is finaly on a train
ssss07 09-05-2006, 04:14 PM Called customer service they said my car is in transit...went to dealer today he said the same thing... as i was leaving dealer they said wait have something for you. They had the window sticker that was sent to them in and evelope....so i guess they expected me to drive the window sticker home...
window sticker says its coming by rail ...AND... they didn't order the Shacker 1000 so i guess i have both more money and more trunk space
ATL54 09-06-2006, 06:15 PM Holy Sheeet. Been waiting for an ETA as mine was built on 8/8. Called the dealer again this morning and was told car was on quality hold for an emissions issue. About an hour ago dealer called back and told me the car was on the ground at the dealer. What is with Ford?
Too amped up anyway to get upset about it. I am getting my Shelby this Saturday in West Virginia.
Performance White/Vista Blue, Shaker 500.
Orange GT 500 09-06-2006, 07:35 PM Update: My car was to be delivered on 31Aug. Still not here. Dealer will not tell me anything.I wonder if its at another one of there dealerships. They have a red one on display. Anybody in Atlanta see a orange Shelby, please post location. There is a red one at Gwinnett Place Ford.
Ranger1 09-07-2006, 12:30 AM I would think because of the Newness... it's going to take a little time... I had ordered my car last sept... didn't get it home till Dec 2...
You'll be happy when you get it, it will be worth the wait:D
