: Production info
HorseTraderDave 12-07-2005, 08:27 AM No one is asking the important questions:
1) When will this thing go on sale? (latest I've heard is June '06)
2) Any updates on pricing? (latest I've heard is $40,000)
3) Any options available? (audio system, aero packages, etc.)
4) What color options? (would love the original Shelby blue/white combo)
5) Is Ford taking orders yet? (I've spoken to 3 dealers and they say they won't know any more until one is on the dealer lot - ouch).
Thanks,
Dave:cool:
O7 SHELBY 12-12-2005, 12:19 AM I have read from 2,750 to just over 6,000 on production!! I hope it is the higher end just for availability and the chance to be an original owner! Let me know if you have heard any other numbers!!
HorseTraderDave 01-09-2006, 04:43 PM I spoke to a Ford SVT rep on the phone, and he said they would produce between 7,000 and 13,000 cars. Still all my other questions are unanswered. By the way, here is a fresh pic of the one from the Detroit Auto show.
If any one want's one you need to go to the SVT dealer and get them to take a deposit on one, still big secret on colors and options. From what i herd they will produce about 1,700 first year and have a four year run on them. to be produced in Tenn. Some time in June first models out. Good luck. one dealer told me it will be $10,000 over sticker.
I'm hoping Military Auto Sales will offer the GT500...they respond that they won't have any info until April...and they say that if it is an onsite Ford factory offering, I might be able to order one...emphasis on might be able to...
You need to go to SVT dealer and get them to take a deposit if you want one, do it now or you won't get one.:)
hayburner 01-14-2006, 12:41 AM You need to go to SVT dealer and get them to take a deposit if you want one, do it now or you won't get one.:)
Lock in your price...don't just throw money at these guys with out knowing what you expect to pay. They do not have allocations nailed down yet.You may be giving a deposit for something the dealer won't get!!
Southway Ford (you can google them) says they will auction their allocation on eBay to the highest bidder. Joe Meyers Ford did that with a Ford GT. Looks like the Shelby's will be rediculously expensive. Can you say "Roush Mustang" instead? I told my wife that a new Harley is looking better and better....
juniatalozer 01-17-2006, 06:33 PM I have been on a "list" since early summer. Recently have learned that the dealer I have been working with will be giving the cars to the highest bidder. Whatever their allocation of cars, highest bidder gets them. Wishing you guys better luck....
GWD Toronto 01-23-2006, 11:28 AM I made the list of the #1 Mustang Dealer in Canada and received paperwork that I am paying MSRP....pretty good deal. Here's hoping everyone ahead of me on the list bows out.
cornfay 01-24-2006, 10:10 AM whats up everyone, i would reccomend trying a local dealer if you havent, i called from spokane to mamphis, and finally got on a list in columbus ohio as #3 and they are getting 3. Well in the meantime I called my smaller local dealer who can and will get one, and he is going to sell it at MSRP. I had to put a deposit down on the one in Ohio so if antone is interested in the spot let me know. They said they will be adjusting their prices according to market value. The point of this rambling even if the dealership is smaller and NOT an SVT dealer contact them, you may get lucky. Secondly I guess I have to so if interested contact me and as soon as I hear a number above MSRP I will post it.
07 SHELBY 01-24-2006, 12:58 PM I doubt anyone will pay MSRP,but that would be nice.
1-Car 1 won't be built till 6-06,released to the dealers in August or Sept.
2-Ford won't confirm pricing,but probably $40,000 ~$45,000.$5,000 more for convertible.
3-Options are few, stereo upgrade and in 08, 19" wheels instead of 18"will be an option.
4-Colors are already decided.I can't remember them all,but Rio red and white for sure. The stripe is not painted on,it is a decal.
5-Orders will be start in March or April and delivery starts in August or September barring no problems and where you are on the food chain.
argile2000 01-24-2006, 03:03 PM It does not look good for the home team. I am hearing that here in Wa state there will only be 3 or 4 allocated. Additionally the dealer that I got this info from was saying they will be collector items in the door and that one should expect to pay 80,000 to 120,000 K. WOW!!! I would buy a Vper before that! What is ford stupid? Does anyone have more info?
OSHELBYO 01-25-2006, 02:07 PM I put a $2500.00 deposit down on one last April (2005) at my SVT dealer...I'm #16 in line. They now have 55 deposits of $2500.00 for 55 cars (1 dealer). I'm hoping for the best. Anyone else got one on order?
More bad news.....Just spoke with a Sales Manager from a dealership in Tulsa. His General Manager told him today that Ford has decided to reduce the production this year to 2500 units....not sure how true that is, but would not be surprised as this is what happened with the last run of cobra r models. At this rate these cars will not make their way to anyone except for collectors.....way to go FORD; and they wonder why they are laying off 30,000 employees
eh, maybe next year then - will get a new Tahoe this year instead and the Cobra can wait. I refuse to pay over sticker for anything. Plenty of other interesting cars out there, something else may catch my eye in the meanwhile. Never cared much for teases in women or in car companies - Ford has a hottie right now, but if they don't open the gates on production they will turn buyers off.
PolarBear 01-31-2006, 03:37 PM ^exacaly....Ford is between a rock and a hard place...they need their dealers to sell, and if the dealers are sellin' them at such a markup, why should they stop them, I mean they are sellin'.......not to me though!
VenomSnake 01-31-2006, 04:53 PM My Dealer told me 7500 will be made, and you have to be svt certified with training and tools, then each Ford dealership that is,will be guaranteed at 1 car.......bigger svt certified dealers that have high turn over, will have more allocation, can get as many as 4.
07 SHELBY 02-01-2006, 12:47 PM There will be 10,000 made per year, for at least 2 years. If you are fortunate enough to get 1 you will have an ear to ear smile. They are a rocket. They handle like no other mustang.
BlueOval 02-01-2006, 01:44 PM I agree with that!
It *seems* that Ford is committing to 2 yrs of about 10,000/yr with a possible 3rd year depending on need. I really think that all who really want one will have the opportunity to own one - and I mean at MSRP or lower.
I look at it this way - which car out there can I NOT own because of limited production? None. Zero. Zilch. Can't think of one. Ha, there're plenty I can't own because of $$$!!!! (Ford GT, Maybach, Ferrari, etc) but that's another story.
I believe that Limited Production cars are limited for a reason: there's a limited audience that will buy them. Ford makes about 910,000 F Series trucks every year. Why? Because that's how many they can sell.
When Ford announced they were going to build "x" number of Ford GT's a year, it was because that's how many they thought they could actually sell. The Ford GT is a limited production car simply because its audience is so small - a real thin slice of humanity as they say.
Yeah, if you have to have an '07 GT500 this summer... prepare to be boarded by the nearest pirate dealership! lol Beyond that? Nah.
Just my thinkin'.
There will be 10,000 made per year, for at least 2 years. If you are fortunate enough to get 1 you will have an ear to ear smile. They are a rocket. They handle like no other mustang.
Barcelona 02-01-2006, 03:51 PM The Prowler (Plymouth and Chrysler) was a limited production car at about 11,000 total units and even though they were hot in 97 they never really held their value. Believe it or not there are still some new, unlicensed units on dealers' lots now. I think they held them as investment grade but it never happened. You can get a mint, very low mileage one now for low $30's. They're fun to drive and a real head turner but uncomfortable, difficult to get in and out of, especially with the top up and no trunk to speak of.
redcobra 02-02-2006, 05:47 PM We are in SHOCK! We got a quote today from a dealership here in WV for $80,000! The salesman told me his dealership is getting 3 of the GT500's some time this year and they are all already sold. Apparently they took $20,000 deposits last year and they are planning on selling them for $80,000 a car. Hubby has lusted for one of these for a year now. We have made plans to buy one of these as soon as they hit the lot, but things aren't looking good after today. We can pay the $40,000 msrp price, but certainly not $80,000. Can anyone offer any information to keep us from getting burt and how or where to find one?

tonyp0811 02-06-2006, 12:24 PM I had a dealer tell me that same 80k price today. I live in the Dallas Tx Area...
I have checked with several other dealerships they either don't know or
they are telling me above MSRP as well....
07 SHELBY 02-06-2006, 12:45 PM As of now Ford is building the Shelby in 07 and 08.2009 is a new model change.I don't think they are going to launch a coupe, convertible and a Shelby in the same year. They are building 10,000 cars in 07 and 10,000 in 08.They are sold out through the 1st half of 08.I doubt if anybody is going to pay MSRP.$80,000 is a little excessive but if you want one you probably are going to pay over MSRP.Good luck if you think you will wait and get one later.

I live in Dallas too, Keller actually. What dealer quoted you $80k? I got my GT at Payton Wright for just under sticker after trade-in.

Better hurry up and get one,...because mark my words,...it's about to become the mid 70's all over again,...if and when the lie-beral Demon-crats get into office,...and demand 40-50 mpg cars too be made,...and a big penalty to be paid by our American Muscle car manufactures,if they don't:mad: ,....then watch....kiss all our new retro high performance muscle cars goodbye again,....you've been warned,...I believe these cars will not be around for long! ;)
redcobra 02-07-2006, 12:26 PM We have talked to another smaller dealer that is telling us 80 grand is rediculous! But they are stopping short on their price, only saying it will indeed be over the msrp, maybe 50-55 grand. They also have no idea when or even if they will get one. My husband made first on their list, but we still have to hear back from them before making a deposit. We have our fingers crossed, but not holding our breath.
tonyp0811 02-13-2006, 12:14 PM Payton Wright is the dealership that gave me that price via e-mail....
If they are Anything over 50K they can keep them... I will just go buy a GT andput a blower in it myself... Proper setup I have seen GT's with blowers
have low 500 RWHP... Or might just have to say good bye to the Blue Oval all together....

$80K is rediculous. Y'all need to come to Colorado. I'm #3 on a list for $10K over MSRP.
MustangSally 02-14-2006, 10:09 AM Get another dealer quick!!!......My dealer said I could get mine for sticker!;)
May be old news by the time this is read, but...
He told you that NOW. Wait until he figures out what others are selling it for!
VenomSnake 02-15-2006, 12:23 AM May be old news by the time this is read, but...
He told you that NOW. Wait until he figures out what others are selling it for!Trust me,I have 3 very honest dealers I know,...and even 1 of them sold a Ford GT for MSRP,.....soo surely they will sell the Shelby GT500 for MSRP!!! This car will soon....BE MINE!!!:D ;)
07 SHELBY 02-15-2006, 09:24 AM I can buy a FORD GT for MSRP but I can't buy a SHELBY for MSRP.Supply and demand will dictate price.I work for ford and I can't get one for MSRP.I am allocated 1 but will have to pay above sticker, can't even get the A plan.
07 SHELBY 02-15-2006, 12:10 PM A friend of mine got a call today at 10:00am from a detroit area FORD dealer. He is #2 on their list. They said if he still wanted 1 he had to come in and put $10,000 down and he would be able to order it in March or April. He also will pay $10,000 over MSRP.This is the same info I received from my dealer. They told me $8,000 to $10,000 over MSRP.I put a deposit down over a year ago. They are going to make 10,000 Shelby GT500's in 07 and 10,000 in08.That's it.08 is the last year they will make them. Then they will come out with the Boss which is on hold right now.Was slated for 08 but will be out in a couple of years. Then the Mach I then the Bullit. So if you think the dealer will sell you one at MSRP,I'd call him back and ask him that question again!

My one dealer has said,( and his dealership stands behind their vow of customer first, and honesty for the past 35 years),....all cars he has ever sold and specialty cars included, have sold for MSRP or below,...depending on the vehicle,....the rest of the stuff you hear,is a bunch of crap that greedy dealers want to get their hands deep in your pockets,...screw them:rolleyes: ,...there are more than enough that will honor msrp,...but you needed to do your research a long time ago,as now there are alot of waiting lists,...its either that, or wait a couple of years and pick one up for msrp of cheaper!!! Don't give up,!...and Don't believe all the Bull they tell you either!!;)

If what you say is true regarding MSRP, what are the dealers you speak of? I simply can't believe this car will SELL for MSRP.
07 SHELBY 02-15-2006, 05:28 PM What city, state do you live in where the dealers are so honest? What is the name of any of these 3 dealers?I would like to call them.I would like to buy 1 in a couple of years at MSRP but they won't be making them in a couple of years!
VenomSnake 02-16-2006, 06:01 PM ....Like I said to you in my last post, that you needed to get on board a long time ago,...as now there are waiting lists,...this will be the hottest, coolest looking new muscle car with its 500hp in its price range of just under 40k,on the planet period,...that's why I got on board immediately,...and waiting lists are huge,...however I will talk to the dealers(as I know them personally) and see if I can get any more at msrp if someone cancels,...and if I can I will let you know immediately through a pm.;)
BlueOval 02-17-2006, 09:24 PM Ha! Payton-Wright in Grapevine is a notorious rip-off dealership man. I've been in there many times over the past 15 years and they are insane on their prices on about everything.
Actually, the truck I own now (2002 F150 Screw FX4) came off of their lot... but... they wanted an absurd price for it at the time. I went to Five Star Ford in N. Richland Hills (nearby) and they did a dealer trade with Payton-Wright for the exact truck and I got it for $2500 less than PW was quoting!!!! This was with no trade-in so that had nothing to do with it either.
I've been bugging Middlekauf Ford in Plano but they are very non-committal on anything re: the GT500. They did try very hard to sell me a Saleen S281 for $47,000. Yeah, right.
Payton Wright is the dealership that gave me that price via e-mail....
If they are Anything over 50K they can keep them... I will just go buy a GT andput a blower in it myself... Proper setup I have seen GT's with blowers

tonyp0811 02-20-2006, 10:27 AM I just got rid of my 03 FX4 so I could have the cash to put down on a GT500.... Guess I should have kept the the Lariat:o .... I have yet to go to a Ford Dealership in the DFW area that they are not a bunch of crooks...
Last cobra I had was a 97 that I bought from Westway. Got it for 3K below sticker.... But everything after that from the dealership was a joke had a lawsuit against them for a while for deceptive trade practices. I have owned nothing but fords mostly mustangs and every dealership I go to I have yet to get the warm fuzzies. Customer and Brand loyalty does not exist from a dealership here. The only straight answer I got was from payton-wright to tell me how well they would lube the broom stick before giving it to me.:p
msvade 02-23-2006, 07:31 AM With regards to sticker price for the new GT500.. I saw an article in MPH magazine that stated that the sticker will be $44,000. That's somewhat higher than the $38,500 I'd seen in other publications dating back at least a year. What happened to under $40K for this scream machine? Add the $10 - $20K mark ups through dealearships and your boardering on BMW, Merc., Jag pricings? While all the muscle parts are valid, the cost cutting interior does not cut it at those prices. Maybe it cost SVT more to produce the power / handling / exterior aeordynamic attempts??
07 SHELBY 02-23-2006, 10:26 AM I never saw $38,500 but even if you did it was for the coupe. This article is for the convertible.Add $5,000 for that option.$38,500 + $5,000=$43,5000.These are just estimates. The prices have not been sent to the sealers yet.
gt 500 02-23-2006, 12:35 PM I just bought the mph magazine today. The price $44,000 is for the convertable and just under $40,000 for the coupe without markup of course and tax
gt 500 02-24-2006, 01:02 PM I dont know why they compared the convertable with the camaro coupe and dodge coupe as the gt 500 coupe wheigh's 150 lbs lighter.Meaning faster time's in 0-60 mph and also faster 1/4 mile! as for the weight's I noticed that the camaro concept is est at 3800lbs and the 1969ss350 weighed at 3500lbs so the dodge not sure but heard around 4000lbs.So the gt 500 isn't the only one that gained weight!! thats why the SHELBY GT 500 is the KING OF THE ROAD!!! NOW AND IN 3 YEAR'S TIME!!!:D :D :D
hot2trot 03-11-2006, 12:50 PM I think the info that every dealer will get 1 is no where near accurate. I can't find any dealers in my area who know if they're even going to get a single one. I have a good friend who owns a dealership and he's certain that he WON'T get a single Shelby on his lot at any time in 07 or 08 (and he even has the actual Ford GT sitting on the showroom floor ... priced at $200k!) Too bad cuz he said I could be on his waiting list #1, but if there's no car coming, being #1 on the list does no good!! I'll be bidding on EBAY like the rest of the fools, paying top dollar for this once in a lifetime chance.
gt 500 03-13-2006, 09:28 PM I also have a friend that owns a ford dealership with also a ford gt selling for$200,000 he was the first i went to last year but told me they are not geting any because the are not a SVT DEALERSHIP and that only FORD SVT DEALERS will sell the ford gt500.
2005ROUSH 03-13-2006, 10:13 PM If you click on the autoblog link at the top article on this forum regarding the end of SVT, you can read more which will tell you that GT500's will be offered to ALL FORD DEALERSHIP'S, not just SVT dealers. Some may not order, but that would be their choice.
jkittrell 03-14-2006, 02:07 PM I saaw a post last night on the forum at svtcobraclub.com that a guy got the call from his dealer saying that the order book was inand he was going to place his order this week. No word on MSRP, options etc yet though.
