: Estimated Delivery Date
oldimp 06-05-2006, 03:38 PM I received a call from my friendly neighborhood sales manager this afternoon. He told me that my order shows an estimated delivery date of 23 June 06!
Good things are happening! Hope everyone gets similar good news soon!
07 SHELBY 06-05-2006, 05:01 PM Oldimp,
Good for you. Will you take me for a ride when you get it.You will have to come up here though I work just about everyday. We could wear matching t-shirts.Are you going to do any mods or just be cool?
oldimp 06-05-2006, 06:31 PM Hey, 07 SHELBY!
I would love to get up there so we could ride around in it! I'd have to guess 11 hours to get to Detroit area.
I want to keep it under warranty, so won't go overboard with mods. I have the C&L cold air, Bassani x-pipes and Magnaflow axle-backs on my '05 GT along with the Hurst shifter, which I dearly love! That would amount to about the 1st stage Ford Racing Package I guess. But, the Whipple is a very attractive option, except that I know it will be expensive to buy, let alone have Ford install it in order to maintain the warranty.
Actually, I asked my sales manager guy if there would be a warranty extension offered and he didn't know yet. He told me that it was not available on the Ford GTs they had sold.
07 SHELBY 06-05-2006, 07:03 PM Ok, when you go for a ride will you call me and tell me all about it.How about street slicks?Got to get the HP to the pavement.
oldimp 06-05-2006, 07:38 PM No, no slicks! But, I'll definitely get in touch with you after I get it! It would be so cool to get it this month!
busababy 06-05-2006, 08:22 PM Great News for you, can't wait to get my Vin so I can pass it along to 07 Shelby. I have been told ETA some time in July, after waiting since Jan 05 I guess 2 more months is a cake walk. CL makes a great cold air intake and with the optional programmer for about $ 700.00 it is well worth the money. I have been in touch with them and Steeda about Air intakes and both will have one very very soon. Air intake // remap // 160 Thermostat // exhaust and 3.73 gears is a must for this car. Superchargers respond very well with air intakes more so than standard motors. If you intake and exhaust the shelby you really need to remap computer to get the full effect. More air in will lean out the engine so the mapping will richen it up, (more gas more go) change the timing (advance it a few degree's) which means always 92 and up Octane. Change the pulley on the supercharger for more power. I have been on websites for the GT40 and tuners have gotten that over 600 HP and we have basically the same motor (different charger)
Remember Engines are just a big air pump the more air you get in and out the bigger the smile on your face... if you like that sort of thing :) Had a father that raced GTO in the early 70's so I have no choice I was born with the need for more speed :)
98Snake 06-05-2006, 11:21 PM Hey, 07 SHELBY!

Don't want to change the focus of this thread but I've heard a lot about the bassani x-pipe/magnaflow combination on the 03-04 snakes as well. My question.......why not the Magnaflow Tru-X pipe? The bassani and most other manufacturers x-pipes look more similiar to an H crossover than an X, to me. I have the Magnaflow Tru-X and there is no mistaking it for an H. Those gases cross at hard angles. Any input?
ShelbyWise 06-05-2006, 11:32 PM oldimp, Thats great news! ...you should be one of the first owners on most of these sites to be giving us your driving impressions...To hell with the magazine tests...in two more weeks, you get to do your own!!:D
oldimp 06-06-2006, 03:58 AM 98Snake,
I don't remember why I decided to go with the Bassani to be truthful! I remember looking at the Tru-X, and I already had the Magnaflow axle-backs. Maybe it was the price or the Bassanis looked easier to install, just don't remember. But, the x-pipe seemed to make a difference and the GT500 already has x-pipe.
Shelbywise,
I was thinking the same thing, about possibly having mine before a lot of folks on the forums. But, I know there has to be a bunch of guys getting theirs before me because my build date is the second week! They just must not be using the forums! You can bet I will be reporting my experiences!
busababy 06-06-2006, 05:07 AM The X pipe helps with something called Exhaust Scavenging which in laymens terms get the exhaust out faster, The H pipe is more of a balance pipe I always found, If you ever on a cold day saw a car in front of you with true dual one exhaust pipe is always putting out a little more smoke, (camero, mustang, trans-am) well the H pipe will balance that and does help with exhaust output but the X pipe will produce more because of exhaust scavenging, Nascar did allot of research into this and the X pipe became the ticket. Since the Shelby has an X pipe not sure if putting after market brand on will make a difference unless you change the pipe diameter. Doing a 3 inch from the Cat's back with a next 3 inch X pipe would flow better.
oldimp 06-08-2006, 03:53 PM Received another call from my sales manager today! I could tell by his voice that it wasn't particularly good news! My delivery date has been set back to 29 June. Just as well say it added one more week. The good part of the news was that my build date is still 12 June and the status is now "Bucked". According to one of the main sources over on the StangsUnleashed forum, that means it is on the assembly line!
I had been following the posts of this guy (dealership guy) because his first GT500 status and dates have changed three to five days before mine changed with my status/dates being just slightly behind him on the schedule. His was moved back five days and status shifted to "Bucked" this Monday so, I figured I would get a similar change within a week.
shlbysvt 06-08-2006, 04:26 PM Has anyone noticed that oldimp has not order the shaker 1000. My order date was March 24th but where am I in the food chain is the big question? By the way oldImp I graduated in 1969. I guess you and I are in the same boat so to speak.
oldimp 06-08-2006, 04:50 PM shlbysvt,
Yes, I graduated in 1968!
I decided against the 1000 mostly because of the price, but I also have a Shaker 500 in my '05 Mustang GT and it has plenty of output. Plus, I like having the extra space in the trunk. My salesman told me that Waylon Jennings doesn't sound all that good on the Shaker 1000 anyway!
I sure hope that you soon get some encouraging news on your GT500! The closer I get to the dates I am being told, the harder it is for me to get my mind off of this car!
Best of luck to you
shlbysvt 06-08-2006, 05:30 PM Old Imp
I was not refering to your choice of sound systems but the question as to material holds and the Shaker 1000 as a potential problem.
Believe me when I say I am glad to hear of your potential build date!
07 SHELBY 06-08-2006, 05:31 PM Good for you Oldimp. We should make up some Shelby squares. You know like football squares.Everybody can pick a date. That date can only be used once.Once it's picked nobody else can pick that date.Whoever picks delivery to the dealership date wins.If nobody picks the right date the closest to that date wins without going past that date.I tell you what,I will even throw in a Shelby shirt to the winner. What do you think?Oldimp will have to pick 1st.Then 1st come 1st date. You guys want to play?Let me know?
oldimp 06-08-2006, 06:30 PM This sounds like fun to me! I'll pick 29 June for my square! I have to have a little faith that Ford will get it here on time! And if we are talking about the first reported date by anyone on the forum, I still like my square!
Thanks once again to my old pal Fred!
07 SHELBY 06-08-2006, 06:34 PM We are talking about oldimp's car.June 29th is taken.I will not pick a date unless there is some left in the end.
busababy 06-08-2006, 07:40 PM I will go with July 6th, Have ordered 4 new vehicles from different dealers and it seems they were all off by a week or so. Hopefully I am wrong.

07 SHELBY 06-08-2006, 07:54 PM Ok June 29th,July 6th and August 10th are taken.Busababy, that is our shutdown bad time to pick. You have a date though.
oldimp 06-08-2006, 08:06 PM Oh, man! I think I could survive waiting until 6 July, but 10 August! Lord, give me strength!
07 SHELBY 06-08-2006, 08:10 PM You are going to need strength cause we are shut down the week of July 6th.He has a good date.

fee5707 06-09-2006, 10:16 AM son of a... i was guessing the date for my car to be delivered... not old dimps.. DOH... looks like i'm gonna lose!
oldimp 06-09-2006, 01:58 PM I have a question, why would the plant shut down July 6th have any effect on my estimated delivery of June 29th?
07 SHELBY 06-09-2006, 02:35 PM I have a question, why would the plant shut down July 6th have any effect on my estimated delivery of June 29th?
Oldimp,
You are ruining my squares. The 1st meeting for the ok to ship is next Tuesday 6-12.If they say ok it will be a minimum of two weeks after that. That would be 6-26.Then it will go over to the shipping yard, where there is 3,000 to 4,000 cars ready to ship. How long will they be there? Then is your car going by rail or by truck?Shut down is 7-1 to 7-16.So if everything goes perfect your car would have to ship 6-27,28 or 29 and ship ahead of all the other cars.I was hoping you would not ask but I don't want to lie to you. That's why the dealer says estimate. He can always go back and blame the factory.I have always said I don't think you will start seeing them till the end of July.I hope I am wrong.
fee5707 06-09-2006, 02:42 PM hmm
maybe i will be right :D
07 SHELBY 06-09-2006, 02:43 PM Now remember these are just estimates
oldimp 06-10-2006, 12:35 PM 07 SHELBY,
What the heck is a "Blend Date"?
Oh, and while I have your attention, your post #31 sure has let the air out of my balloon! I am still hoping for the 29th, mostly because I have a decent loan interest rate that runs out the 30th! Should only increase by a quarter percent in July though. Such is life in the pursuit of happiness! Happiness dressed in Performance White with Vista Blue stripes!
07 SHELBY 06-10-2006, 01:41 PM I see that you are not to happy with me.From now on no more telling the truth.I will only tell people what they want to hear.Read the thread "10 steps to getting a Shelby",It was quite a detailed thread and you will know all there is to know about a Blend Date.
oldimp 06-10-2006, 02:33 PM I'm plenty happy with you, because you have been most helpful! I want my car as soon as possible, but I am realistic and understand that you don't always get what you want. The fact is, even if it gets here a little later than I like, as long as it gets here and I get to drive it home, it is just time. Let me send you a PM!
07 SHELBY 06-10-2006, 03:38 PM Amen brother, that's what I have tried to get across to you guys.Hey for what it's worth you guys will be driving around in your Shelby's a long time before me.Believe me I already know the feeling you get the 1st time you get in.Then you will think wow it's Sept. and 07 Shelby still doesn't have his Shelby
shoyoright 06-10-2006, 04:28 PM You can have the dealer contract you before the car arrives to get the intrest rate you want. PC
shoyoright 06-10-2006, 04:35 PM '07 what's up? I received vin earlier in the week & I was it had build date. It is a loaded vista blue w/white stripes car. Thanks in advance. PC
oldimp 06-12-2006, 02:26 PM Are you just funnin' with me, 07 SHELBY?
fee5707 06-12-2006, 03:11 PM Great news!
07 SHELBY 06-17-2006, 05:19 PM Well they have a meeting every week about shipping the Shelby's.I think they are going to give the go ahead soon.I don't know when but when they give their blessing I will let you know.
07 SHELBY 06-19-2006, 06:54 PM Oldimp any news on your delivery date? Are you anxious to see what it looks like?Show us some pictures when you get it.Would love to sit in your car and go for a ride.Shelbywise any news on yours?Let us know.Hey buddy I am still here just been busy, you know what I mean?I wish somebody wanted to know something that I have not answered 10 times, you know like we are NOT short on the shaker 1000's.
busababy 06-19-2006, 07:30 PM Well I have only ask my dealer one time about the vin and he blew me off which was okay, he is the General Manager of the dealership and I know he is busy with running the place, and because of the deal I am getting I never had pushed him for info but after reading about everyone getting info on there car and mine was ordered the same day it was allowed to be I decided to send him a email today and find out what is what. He replied back a few hours later that he would have soild info for me this week... not sure what that meant (solid info) but I did ask him for the VIN number so hopefully that is what he is getting me so 07 Shelby can tell me the status... it is not killing me not to have this car but what is a killer is not knowing when. So hopefully this will be a question 07 that you can give me good news on. I will post up what he tells me and beleive me I check my email about every 30 minutes during the day to see a reply.
07 SHELBY 06-19-2006, 07:33 PM Let me know if I can help I will.I sent you a PM.

The Real Pisser Is I Could Have Enjoyed That Mach 1 Throughout The Summer. Now This Money Is Burning A Hole In My Pocket And I Have To Keep It Out Of My Wife's Hands.
busababy 06-19-2006, 08:21 PM I know what you mean, when I first heard about the new body style mustang coming out in 05 I was also told that ford would release a SVT version not knowing it was going to be the shelby just a SVT version so I put my truck which I loved and was paid off in the local paper, ebay, Truck Trader and for 4 months tried to sell it until finally sold it in Dec of 04 than gave the dealer a deposit of a few grand in Jan 05 still thinking it was a cobra. Than as time went on it was known that no SVT for the new body style mustang... than a few more months and it was released it would be a shelby so I fell into this deal you might say but I sure missed my truck even though I only drove it a few times a month when I did it got allot of attention and for a heavy extend cab truck running high 13 in the quarter it was allot fun and spanked a few cars when the light turned green :) Oh well it will be worth it when the new toy comes.
Old toy I sold for the Shelby http://www.flairphoto.com/dakota.htm

NO NEWS...I find it hard to believe thats good news:( My dealer emails me regularly though...she is a good friend of mine since I was 13. Hey, what are the chances of some Ford Muckety-Muck just coming out and telling everyone the numbers are just THE NUMBERS...and if you don't like em' go buy something else! I mean hell, who give a rat's a** if something else is a second faster? How many folks buying a GT500 are going to use it to it's full potential anyhow? I keep hearing...Well, who wants to buy a car thats already labeled as a 500 HP slug?...So don't buy the damn thing...Go and get yourselves one of them thar BMW M types...just don't park it near UCLA or you'll come out of a building and you will be surrounded by a 100 of the very same cars!! Just my .02 vent...

07 SHELBY,
Actually, your post about the meeting this week is the only and best news I have about the delivery. If the car can get out of Flat Rock before the summer plant shutdown, I could have it early July or possibly even late this month! If I can find out exactly when it leaves the plant, my sales manager says the dealership can make some calls to get it pushed a little faster!
Surprisingly, I am not all that anxious to see what it looks like anymore! And I am sure someone else has enjoyed sitting in it and driving it around already! I am just glad it is far enough along that someone can drive it! My time will come soon enough!

07 Shelby, As always thanks for the wealth of information you have provided. This board's been too quiet last couple days..... what are you seeing production-wise as far as ratio of coupes to convertibles being built?
Has the new Alloy metallic been available from the get-go on these GT500?
I did see the bootleg video of the Alloy GT500 vert, but I would love to see a close-up pic of Alloy met under lights if there are any available.
The only reason I mention this is that I have had prior experience with other manufacturers who have delayed their scheduled rollout of a new model year paint choice.

You are welcome.I have been helping a buddy on an important project. He should be happy now.Coupes to verts about 65% to 35%.The alloy paint has been since day 1.I can't take pictures at work but maybe 1 day I can get some pictures.
The most important piece of info I have is tomorrow is the yes or no day to ship.Ford wants these cars out on the streets and we have no big issues so it will be soon.

Hahaahaha..sorry I meant to, but forgot to ask.
Okay, technical question-- assuming there is a rev limiter, is it a 'soft' rev limiter at 6000 (or 6200?)_ RPM triggering a partial fuel supply shut-off or any idea how rev limiter acts?
One more inane production/options question from me and I'll leave u alone for awhile 07 Shelby.....
If you've noticed one way or the other---- What proportion of Crimson Red/Charcoal interiors are you seeing versus straight Charcoal? realizing they won't allow Crimson/Charcoal with Vista Blue, G.Orange.
I've got a GT500 order pending with the Red/Charcoal (tungsten grey exterior) but I need to see the bugger in person before I know if I made right decision..... I can change options for the next couple of weeks. thanks again.:D
LOOK N GO 06-20-2006, 08:08 PM Since you guys have all the parts, do you think I might be able to get the parts from Ford and put my own Shelby together like the old AC's, while you all are on summer vacation? My parts guy has very few parts showing up on his Ford parts software. I always enjoy a challange. I'm sure you have seen on TV how they put a custom car together in a half hour show (one week episode). So, in other words what I am trying to say is if Henry Ford was alive right now and people were paying an average 10 grand over MSRP you better believe he could crank out more in the 21st century than he did the 20th century Model T. Just a response.
HorseTraderDave 06-20-2006, 09:03 PM Invest in Goodyear Eagle tire stock. Then, when the stock goes up from so many GT500 users burning up their tires, cash in, save $50k for the GT500, and spend the rest on modifications.

07 SHELBY 06-23-2006, 12:56 PM Ok I have a lot to talk about and I am very excited.Carroll Shelby was up at the plant today and I got to shake his hand a couple of times. The company gave me a dash for my Shelby(it's not built yet)and Carroll Shelby signed to be put in my car when it is built. That is ssooooooooooooo cool.I am so happy.I gotta go they want me to do some work now.Can you imagine.
Alright I'm back.I am having a hard time concentrating everybody here wants to talk about Carroll Shelby.Bill Ford Jr.has car #1(he also had 3 other Shelby's built)blue with white stripes.I also got to talk to Ron xxxxx the guy that won the Barrett Jackson auction.Quite a nice fellow. He told me he owns every year Mustang ever built, how cool.He got the 1st sellable Shelby,Grabber orange and Carroll Shelby signed his dash.Oh but that wasn't enough he also bought a grabber orange vert but oh he also bought a Torch red coupe with white stripes,I love this guy if I could only get 1.
My friend got his built a couple of days ago and Carroll Shelby signed his dash and took a bunch of pictures with him.Way to go Bill.Carroll Shelby also got a Shelby a black convertible.
I talked to a couple of people from Barrett Jackson they thought it was so cool I got my dash signed by Carroll before the car was built.I have a buch of pictures I will post them within a couple of days.Maybe tonight if I get home early enough I will post the picture of my dash with signature.Hey gotta go they want me to work again.I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight.

Yes as I mentioned yesterday they started shipping yesterday.
rpretzel 06-23-2006, 01:05 PM Thanks, 07. Sorry, I didn't see your previous post.
ShelbyWise 06-23-2006, 02:16 PM 07 SHELBY...What a life you lead!! The Carroll Shelby dash signing thing is about the coolest Shelby story I've ever heard:cool: ...Things have finally come to fruition, if only we could get our damn cars...But hey, at least you got your dash! What a great story to tell, the first part procured for your GT500 was it's dash and it was signed by the man himself...Bah Humbug to anybody who thinks they can top that! Did oldimps go out the door yet? In the meantime, I'll continue to wait, even if its not so patiently...I keep getting a great big NO NEWS from my dealer:mad: . I'm just now beginning to get a little frustrated. Insomnia? You damn well better have it!:D
ShelbyWise 06-23-2006, 06:49 PM Shelbywise are you sure there are 2 r's and 2 ll's in Carroll's name.I would hate to autograph it wrong:p lol
Hey 07 SHELBY...I'm really happy for you getting to meet Carroll Shelby and getting your dash signed...Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to have all this happen and be surrounded by the cars in the factory where they are built:eek: . I can't wait to see the rest of your pics! And from the looks of your dash, I guess I'm the spelling bee champ...Oh BTW, He didn't happen to sign the shirt I'm going to receive when oldimps GT500 arrives on July 19th did he?? LOL!:D
07 SHELBY 06-23-2006, 06:56 PM Ok so I am wound tighter than a watch and I can't go to sleep.Just to share some info before I get the pictures we started shipping Shelby's yesterday.BILL FORDS cars sill plates say something like " THIS CAR WAS BUILT FOR BILL FORD JR." instead of SVT.Think they will do that for me?Probably not.I met a lot of people that I don't even know their names yet.I am sure they will tell me who everybody was.I am still in a daze.I can't even explain what it was like to talk to Mr. Shelby. He signed posters,t-shirts,cars,pictures and then here I come with the air bag panel for the dash.I felt so lucky.I knelt down next to him and held the dash up for him and he said "are you ready, here we go and then he said his name,is that ok"?What was I going to say no lets try it again?I really hope you guys don't think I am bragging I just want to share this with everybody. This is one of those experiences in life that comes around once in a blue moon.He is such a people person, loves the average working man.
Oldimp I didn't forget about you I just put myself in front of everybody today.I know Autoport is shipping cars around the clock 7 days a week and will be shipping through shutdown.I will find out when yours is scheduled to be shipped tomorrow. They still expected me to do some work today. Can you imagine, what nerve.LOL

No but you can send it to him and he will sign it for $100.00 that goes to the Carroll Shelby Children Foundation.
He didn't charge any of us but I feel so grateful I am going to send him a letter and a contribution.
07 SHELBY 06-23-2006, 07:50 PM Wow 1 of the biggest days of my life and I can't get anyone to talk to.I know its Friday night but I am pumped.Oh well maybe another day.
07 SHELBY 06-23-2006, 08:27 PM Ok I am out of here talk to you in a couple of days.Long live the Shelby!
RDavis 06-23-2006, 08:41 PM I bid $10K for your signed dashboard.:p
Seriously 07 Shelby, congrats wow that's extremely cool on the Carroll Shelby visit. Congrats, what a larger than life figure in the auto enthusiast world (of course in every interview of Shelby he sounds so down to earth like he'd discourage such worship). More pics when you can post them plz, really Carroll Shelby is right up there with McLaren, Arkus-Duntov,
Colin Chapman, Enzo Ferrari, F. Porsche, etc.
oldimp 06-23-2006, 08:41 PM Dang, 07 SHELBY, I thought you had gone to bed! I was computer golfing! Have a great weekend!

07 SHELBY 06-24-2006, 03:09 PM I enjoyed! Is that him with the thumbs up?
Yes it is and he is still in a daze.We had lunch together today.
oldimp 06-24-2006, 03:12 PM I thought it might be! He had a pretty big grin! I am so glad for him! What a great toy! Thanks for the great pictures! I already have them copied down to my Shelby files!
WSANVAL 06-26-2006, 07:22 AM HELP
Can any one tell me what it means when the dealer
told me on 6-21-06 that my shelby would be pulled
for production on 7-7-06,when do you think the car
would be built and when would I see the car?
I ordered the car on 4-6-06.
Thanks
07 SHELBY 06-26-2006, 09:29 AM There is no black or white answer for these questions.I have never heard of pulled for production. He probably means it is bucked, which means that it is loaded in the body shop and has a buck tag.The Shelby's have been taken about a week to go through the system. They are being held in every dept.to make sure there is no problems. So if it is bucked on 7-7 I would say anywhere from the 17th till the 30th as long as there is no problems and depends on how far it has to be transported.

07 SHELBY 06-26-2006, 11:12 AM No problem my pleasure.
VNMOUS1 06-27-2006, 06:10 AM I just received my passenger side visor that I ordered. Sending it to CS today for his autograph. The piece is the same as the '06 (and there are about 30 of them in different languages), but I found it odd that the mirror wasn't lighted! Are they in the production cars? I'm hoping to get this back before my (supposed) July 12 delivery so it'll be in from Day 1. BTW....hi. First post on this site. bj
shoyoright 06-27-2006, 12:50 PM Hello '07, I thought the convertibles were to be built after they finished building the coupes. Some are landing on eBay w/vins & July delivery dates. Is this possible & are they already building converts? When Shelbys left Flatrock last week did you see any converts leaving? As always I appreciate the good info. PC

They were available since day1.Don't believe everything you see on e-bay.Yes we are building and yes we have shipped some.
ShelbyWise 07-10-2006, 11:18 AM Good for you Oldimp.
07 SHELBY...You called it
07 SHELBY 07-10-2006, 11:44 AM Shelbywise you have been out and about lately.Nice to see you active.Yes you will get that shirt.I knew you were going to win from day one.I was surprised not many people played.

Hi, ShelbyWise!
No, not here yet! I was really disappointed yesterday because my dealership guy called and said they couldn't locate it! I found the Ford Customer Service number over in another forum and called a little earlier today and the lady told me that the ETD was 17 July, actually she quoted a window of 10-17 July, so I am still hoping for some time this week! This forum will definitely know that I have it once I take delivery! Thanks for thinking about me!
Shelby101 07-12-2006, 11:19 AM Question??
Just called Ford Customer Service and they told me my car was on "National Hold"
Does anyone know what this means?
And no I did not order the Shaker 1000
They didn't!!!

Not good. Do you think it has anything to do with the plant shutdown?

According to info I have been receiving from Fords VOPC the material hold on one of my cars & many, many other orders is a shortage on something that involves the 5.4 motor.
Kickstand 07-13-2006, 06:27 AM My car was on material hold for about a month and then one day went to scheduled (with a vin) then a production date. It went off material hold about 2 weeks ago
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 07:48 AM oldimp, I would assume you are driving around with a big fat smile on your face by now! How is it?! I can't wait for mine. I ordered mine a week ago and they tell me it should be a couple of months since I ordered a soft top instead of a hard top. Apparently the majority of the allocations are for the hard tops so the soft tops are being delivered much quicker. I can only hope! Just curious is everyone paying over sticker price for theirs? PLEASE let me know how much you love your new car and how it handles. Thanks a bunch!!
SoftShelby07
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 07:58 AM :D YOU GUYS ARE ALL KILLING ME!!! Being a Newbie and just ordering a black soft top, red/ blk interior, upgrade I am wound like an 8 day clock reading all your articles and looking at the pictures that are poseted. 07 Shelby thanks for making my mouth water with the red one you show being built. DAMN!!!!

SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 08:22 AM Sorry for being a bit overbearing but will one of you guys signed on please tell me what it is like to drive your new GT500. I am at work and I might as well be mowing my grass 24/7 as I don't get anything done thinking about this damn car! Help me!

BTW, there's a pretty good article right here: Automobile Mag Review (http://gt500forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221)
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 09:33 AM Man I tell you what I havn't thought about something this much in years!! Good thing I own my own business as my productivity level has hit the toilet, especially after finding this forum and reading everything. Your GT has not arrived yet?? I see where it was on hold. Where are you located?? Thanks for the article I will check it out!

I'm in the Denver area, but I ordered from a very small non-SVT dealer up in the mountains. From what I've been able to gather from different boards, it seems all/most non-SVT orders are put on Material Hold until Ford gets the SVT, President's Award and Power Lease orders out (they have priority). Then they'll start working on orders like mine. I don't imagine I'll see my Shelby any time soon. :(

My car was ordered on May 2nd from a NON-SVT dealership that is a PA winner and Blue Oval Certified and as of yesterday they are still getting a 'Material Hold' on it:mad:...The manager told me that tomorrow 7/14, she will get a new list of VIN #'s on cars that will be moving through the system...hopefully mine is on it. :)
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 11:10 AM My understanding is that if the dealer is a NON-SVT they better be part of the President's Club. If you are high on the President's Club you get special favors like GT500's!!! My dealer is not an SVT dealer but he is getting the cars, THANK GOD! Good luck on tomorrow's list Shelby!!!!!!!

Every dealer who certifies will get 1 Shelby. President's Award winners get an additional 1. SVT-Focus dealers get an additional 1 and Full line SVT dealers get an additional 2. (plus share of nation)
So, yes, it helps to be a President's Award winner. Unfortunately, my dealer is not a PA winner. :(
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 12:55 PM There you have it!! Man you have none your research rpretzel~! Thanks for all the useful information.

My pleasure. When you hang around these boards as much as I do, you can't help picking up a tidbit or two.
My wife has gotten to the point where she doesn't yell at me anymore for sitting on these boards all day...she just shakes her head and walks away. :p
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 01:36 PM I hear that!! I can't wait to see my wife's reaction when she finds out that I own one!!! That will be a worth a picture of a thousand words!

I'm actually buying it for my wife, so she's pretty excited.
07 SHELBY 07-13-2006, 02:08 PM I did it a little different.I gave my wife a diamond ring the Ford dealer $5,000 and I get to keep the Shelby.
On a different note, all but a handful of Shelby's have gone to Autoport.Looks strange without Shelby's everywhere.A lot have been shipped. There are a few that will get striped next week and then get shipped.

Thanks for the update 07. Any way you can use your contacts to see to it that one of those is shipped to me? ;) :p
I just know I won't get mine until the middle of winter, and I'll have to drive home in a blizzard.
SoftShelby07 07-13-2006, 02:21 PM :D 07 Great idea! However, I am about 10 grand ahead of your game right now and am going to hold out!! I may have to take her on a cruise or something but I guess I can handle that! She will love the convertible and quite honestly she is a pretty hot looking blonde and will look "fine" in the jet black shelby so let her get a few whistles and compliments and it will all be fine!! Not to mention my two girls (3 & 9) will LOVE the convertible and if they love it, that is all that counts, mommy will be happy! Had I ordered the coupe it would be a different story for sure. I will let you know how I make out when that very exciting day arrives!

Yeh but it was are 25th anniversary.Next week will be our 26th.Trust me she deserves it.She has put up with a lot being married to me that long.$20,000 on a new garage,$10,000 on a new driveway and foundation for the garage and $50,000 for the Shelby.I don't think a t-shirt would have gotten me to my 27th anniversary.I think I made out pretty well.I am the high maintenance in this house. She just shakes her head and says whatever makes you happy.I love that woman, she is a Saint.God bless her!

You know you sound just like me about 4 months ago.Your day will come.Right now the people that have it the worst is the people that ordered about the same time I did. They are thinking, how come I don't have a VIN yet.You feel so empty.I have been through all the emotions,I feel your pain brother.
SoftShelby07 07-14-2006, 06:42 AM 07 Shelby congrats on 26yrs buddy! Sounds like you foung a dandy! I can relate as I am high maintenance as well!! All my wife says to me is "just what you need another toy"!! However, she enjoys them as well and I have two of most things, one for her. However, the vert will be a different story as I didn't order two of them!! We will have to share. Next year will be our 5 yr anniversary (second marriage) and she wants one more baby (oh boy!) So I figure I will give her one more and something nice for our
5'th. However, at this point she has no idea that there is a jet black GT500 vert on order!!!!! She will find out when I call her and tell her to get a babysitter for the afternoon as I have a nice afternoon planned for just the two of us and then I will go pick her up at which point she will shit her knickers!!!! Can't wait!

I guess my VIN is still out there in cyberspace somewhere? My dealer just emailed me to tell me my VIN was not in her latest batch to be pulled for production. She said her rep told her it is still showing 'Material Hold'. I'm about ready to take the cash I have allocated for this car and go to Vegas...the last time I was there the crap tables were good to me. Who knows, maybe I'll end up w/two GT500's...or none.

I feel your pain ShelbyWise. I'm in the same boat. Have patience. It's funny you mention Vegas. I'm going next week. I guess I feel like I have too much money, so I have to go throw some of it away. :D
dsabldvt 07-14-2006, 07:10 PM Shelbywise don't give up yet. I received an e-mail from a dealer I contacted a while back and she asked me if I was still looking for a GT500 because she has a White coupe coming in. She didn't say when or how much but I e-mailed her back and asked those questions. When I hear from her I'll let you know.:)

Thanks everybody...I'm still in...just getting more frusrated by the day. I don't plan on going anywhere, I'm in for the long haul, barring some cataclysmic catastrophe. Its strange, I've ordered other cars before and waited longer to take delivery...the GT500 is all different though.

ShelbyWise 07-15-2006, 11:30 PM hey shelbywise, i was wondering what the top price i should pay over msrp? what do you think? Thanks Ryan
Hi Ryan, Your question is off topic but I'll answer it and perhaps a ADMIN/MOD will move this portion of the thread to it's proper place...Ahh...The $64K question  Both 07 SHELBY & myself are paying $5K over MSRP...and although I can't speak for 07, I'm happy to have been offered that in the SoCal area I live in. There are some visitors to the many GT500 forums who think we deserve a flogging for paying over MSRP...I believe there are MSRP deals still to be had, but you need to be dilligent in your search process via phone and computer...some people can do do this, others cannot. You should get a figure in your head of what YOU are willing to pay for a GT500 irregardless of what you read on these pages. You have to be able to sleep @ night when its all said and done. The fact that you are asking 'how much' over MSRP is too much, tells me that you are willing to pay a premium...only you can put a limit on that premium. GOOD LUCK...:)

To get an '07 Shelby or not to get an '07 Shelby...that is the question. Find your comfort level & then pull the trigger. If it is affordable, how can you pass on a 500HP piece of automobile history. PC
07 SHELBY 07-16-2006, 03:30 AM 07 Shelby i was wanting to ask you the same question as my previous POST. what is the top dollar u think i should pay over msrp? Thanks
That is a personal thing.I cannot tell another person how they should spend their money.Shelbywise is right we paid $5,000 over MSRP.
WSANVAL 07-16-2006, 07:17 AM Shelbywise don't do it.It will come soon.I will help once it comes.I know the emotions very well.It is worth the wait, trust me on this one.
07 I got my VIN can you help find out info on how things
are coming along?
LOOK N GO 07-16-2006, 07:21 AM Hi Ryan, Your question is off topic but I'll answer it and perhaps a ADMIN/MOD will move this portion of the thread to it's proper place...Ahh...The $64K question  Both 07 SHELBY & myself are paying $5K over MSRP...and although I can't speak for 07, I'm happy to have been offered that in the SoCal area I live in. Well said ShelbyWise, but I think VNMOUSI summed it up shorter with his quote. "Being middle age crazy... PRICELESS!" Now that describes us all.
VNMOUS1 07-16-2006, 01:11 PM Well we're going to start production back up tomorrow.Good thing too, gettin a little lonely around here with most of the Shelby's gone. For all you that are anxiously waiting for info on your Shelby(including myself)I will try and find out as much as I can tomorrow and get back with you. There's going to be a lot of belly aching tomorrow. Most everybody(not including myself)had 2 weeks off.Soo 2 weeks off and temps in the high 90's=a lot of whinning.I will be busy tomorrow! So I will get back with you as time permits and as the flow of info comes in.
Hey....you don't have to be lonely. My coupe's still there to keep you company!

Ok Vnmous1 you are making me laugh.I can hardly type.Your car is out at Autoport with the rest of the "coupe d'poops".That's why I am lonely.I don't want to say this too loud I will get drowned with comments. You guys are going to have your Shelby's before you know it.The rest of us still have to go through the same fowl program. We will all be sitting around eating Flat Rock Fried Chicken.LOL.Then you will be telling us,hey you guys are just gonna have to be patient.

I can see it now....I hit the horn only to hear the voice of FogHorn LegHorn.
"Son, ah say Son.....move that jalopy outta the left lane and let the big rooster eat!"
Hey, I rented a 6 banger 'vert last week and the top part of the (inside of) doors were hard, molded plastic. I chalked that up to it being a basic car with (probably no)interior upgrade. I looked at an '06 GT with the interior upgrade today and it had the same thing. I also looked at an '03 Terminator that had a softer material. Do all of the 2005+ cars have the hard plastic on the interiors of the doors? Looks like the same stuff the console is made of. Not too jazzy for a 45K car, but then again I bought it because of performance and exterior faaaar more than the interior.
So...what's the real "poop" <rimshot here> ??

07 SHELBY 07-16-2006, 05:14 PM I don't remember.I will look tomorrow.I sure hope you guys get your Shelby soon.I sure hope I get my Shelby soon. This is for the birds.LOL.I am not sure what is worse, you guys not getting your Shelby or my lovely wife going through menapause.I can't avoid either one.Well once the Shelby's and info start flowing again it will take the heat off of me.See you tomorrow............07.........................

Vnmous1 if you are talking about the door itself it is leather if you are talking about the interior of the car, perimeter around the glass and door it is molded plastic in the Shelby.

Yup...that's what I wanted to know. OK...now, go to your "quiet place" and relax! Dontcha just love Mondays!? I'm not in the same boat as you, but I came in after being gone a week and I can't believe the crap that's piled on my desk! And, of course, everybody needs to see me asap!
As for my Shelby, I'm now officially crossing all fingers and toes in hope that they'll stripe and ship this week.
Thanks for getting back to me on the interior.

I won't ask where you had your arm....but I hope you're OK. I'm sure they ARE crabby. It's tough to get back to work and in the "mode".
I tried the "stiff one in the pool" idea once. The water was too cold. Wait...OH! You're talking about a drink! Nevermind.
Did you see the Seinfeld episode when George gets caught with his swimsuit off? After the girl that caught him had a good laugh, his comeback was nothing more than "Shrinkage!!".
Thanks for looking out for us!!

Thanks, LOOK N GO! I am as low as I have been while waiting this out and I appreciate the support from everyone. Sometimes I just lose sight of the big picture! I am so lucky to be in the position to get one of these cars. The time is such a small thing in the big scheme of things!
I have to tell you, 07 SHELBY just sent me an email saying he could "see that long drawn out face, droopy ears, sagging eyes and that sound that Lassie used to make when she was in distress!" It was like he could see me through the computer screen! Hit the proverbial nail on the head you might say! That's my bud!
Her name is going to be "EMMY G". That is my attempt to let my wonderful better half, Emily, feel some ownership! I mean it didn't work, but it was my attempt!
I wish the best of luck for all of us!

What part of Virginia are you from/in? I was raised in northern VA (Catlett). Near Manassas and Warrenton.
LOOK N GO 07-19-2006, 12:11 PM We are just east of Winchester Va. in a little town called White Post. Catlett is southeast from us. Im sure since you have last been here, you would not reconize Manassas or Warrenton. That area has developed tremendously. This is still country out here. The roads here won't handle 180MPH, but burnouts are still popular. There is always a new pair of tire smoke'n burn outs on or road. Gee I wounder how does that?
VNMOUS1 07-20-2006, 08:04 AM Oldimp, your car is on the way by rail.It was released to Autoport on 6-29.2 weeks of shutdown and a back log of stripes was the delay of Your Shelby. It is the installation that takes soo long.On a good day we can stripe about 7 Shelby's.Yes I said 7.At least it isn't waiting for the shaker 1000.I just love to say that.It was striped on Monday shipped by rail on Tuesday.Smile but don't get to boned up till the dealer calls you.I am not sure your ticker can take another setback.Of course I am very happy for you buddy..................07........................

I have been smiling all day! I even got a confirmation from my sales manager buddy that it is already shipped and should arrive in Shelbyville, KY today. Two more days (Saturday) it should be in Columbia, SC (I may have to take a ride up there this weekend!) and there is an outside shot that it could actually be at the dealership on Monday!

ssss07 07-20-2006, 03:07 PM Hey guys. Just found this forum yesterday and this is my first post. Seems like alot of good info is passsed in here. I have a white blue stripe ( like is seems most people ordered ) on oder from Jarrett-Gorden Ford in central Florida. My dealer is really clueless on about everything about the GT500. I had to convince them to go to their dealer webb site last month to prove that Ford was actually taking orders. I owned a 1967 GT500 for about 18 years then sold it to my brother in Salt lake City and have had the bug to get another ever since. My brother in SLC also has a gt500 on order ( white blue stipes :(. As i said nice post in here I'll keep an eye out for any info of a GT500 going to Davenport Florida dealer that u guys who know might post and thx for info here.

We are a foreign trade zone.It is all verbage. The plant gave it to Autoport.Autoport drives it accross the street to get the stripes put on at MNOA(Mazda North American Operations)But our people put on the stripes. Then our people release it back to Autoport and they drive it back to "Coupe Da Poop".It's comming buddy. If the stripes were put on today the shipping company has 3 days to pick it up and take it.
