Has anyone imported the 07-09 GT500 to Canada? What did you have to modify to meet the RIV compliance? Is the warranty honoured by Ford Canada?

First go here and you will learn what you need to know.

http://www.riv.ca/

As you can see, GT500s are on the admissible list so you're good to go.

http://www.riv.ca/VehicleAdmissibility.aspx

You should call a Ford dealer and ask about the warranty.

You will also have to pay the import tax based on the amount paid. MB may be 12-13%.

Also,

Make sure you read the part concerning US Customs.

Mine is from Cherry Hill, NJ. USA

No issues at all in importing the vechicle and FORD's Warranty has supported my car with TWO TRANNY TSB's and a BRAND NEW 5.4 in December 2010.

So yes, they honour the warranty in Canada.

There you go. Sounds like JTB is a great source of info.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I've been through the RIV process many times but never with GT500. What did you have to do to meet the RIV compliance on your car? Daytime running lights or any other mods?

Why not buy Californian car? Does this apply to all makes/models?

Did you have the DRL turned on in US or Canada? Is this simply done through a computer at the dealer or did you need any new parts installed?

DRL is just i simple computer adjustment and Cali cars have more emissions from what i was told. my lights are still off...lol don't ask how it passed the inspection in Canada cause i have no clue.. maybe they were to busy admiring the car to notice? i thought it was a fail for sure and when i picked the car up they said have a nice day and here are your keys..lol

Had the DRLs turned on at a local Ford dealer on my 11. It was a software mod only. Kept the paper work to show Cdn Tire when I had it inspected for part 2. No issues at all other than you need to take both sets of key fobs to the dealer for the software switch over.
