Friday February 3rd, 2012 will be a TS (http://www.teamshelby.com)/Cen-Tex SVT (http://www.centexsvt.com)/SMC Events (http://www.smcevents.com) track day at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos. The event is open to the first 50 cars so space is limited.

We will have driving instructors available for novice participants. The track day cost is $150 and will include lunch. Guests are welcome for $10 each (includes lunch as well). Two drivers sharing one car would be $225.

Saturday Feb 4th will be a Ford/SVT seminar featuring John Clor from Ford Performance Group. John will speak about the history of Ford's SVO, SVE and SVT groups and vehicles. John will also be available for a Q&A session afterwards so start thinking of those great questions now. The seminar is $75 a person or $100 for a couple and includes a meal

Vendors will be on hand to discuss their products and services. We will also have a very nice collection of cars on display during the seminar.

Weather permitting we will also have a show-n-shine.

The seminar will be held at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos. Mention "SVT" when booking your room to get the group discount rate.

You can sign up at www.smcevents.com

Here is a little information on John Clor:

Veteran automotive journalist and author John M. Clor has owned, worked on, raced and written about cars for nearly three decades – and has been a regular columnist for a number of automotive magazines, many specializing in the Ford Mustang. John has been a member of the Automotive Press Association since 1989, with his work appearing in a wide range of both consumer and industry publications. Additionally, his marketing communications work for the likes of Ford, General Motors, Mazda and several automotive suppliers has given him comprehensive insight into the auto industry that few journalists have attained.

A native Detroiter, Clor had paid his journalism dues with a 15-year editing career at The Detroit News before joining the staff of AutoWeek magazine, where he spent more than six years writing road tests and penning auto features as Deputy Managing Editor. John then jumped into the corporate automotive public relations world in 1995, when he became the Communications Manager for the Special Vehicle Team, Ford’s high-profile, high performance vehicle group. But it didn’t take long for him to get back to his first love – writing about cars – with a three-year stint as Detroit Editor for the Edmunds.com automotive Web site.

John’s broad-based automotive knowledge and engaging personality have earned him recurring guest spots on radio and TV, including CBS, CNN, PBS, The History Channel, A&E, Tech TV, ABC Radio News, NPR, Michigan Public Radio, WJR, Public Reality Radio, and many other national and local media outlets. On the freelance side, Clor founded a communications enterprise called “Cars in Context,” providing a blog, plus custom automotive writing, editing, research and consulting to a variety of clients, including the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune as well as cable TV's Modern Marvels and Mad Men.

After returning to Ford and managing its SVT and Shelby GT500 website for more than a half-decade, John penned and published a hardcover history book titled The Mustang Dynasty, whose 2007 and 2009 print runs both sold out. Today John manages the Ford Performance Group of enthusiast organizations, a club outreach marketing program for Ford Racing, and develops website content for www.FordPerformance.com as an Account Director for PCGCampbell, a Dearborn-based marketing communications agency. Still active in car clubs as a director of the SVT Owners Association and serving as editor of its critically acclaimed SVT Enthusiast club magazine, John is the proud owner of three ’70s-era Mustangs – one of which he still describes as “a long-term project.”

I can not stress enough how great the seminar is going to be. We all know what a great time will be had at the track on Friday, but I will say that I think everyone will have just as much fun at the seminar/vendor/car show on Saturday. John Clor knows more about the Mustang and the SVT program than just about anyone and he is a GREAT speaker. Not very often you have this kind of access to a Ford VIP!

SA 2005 or 2010 rated helmet. NO M-rated helmets will be allowed.
Long sleeves and long pants, closed toed shoes. Sun glasses.

Other stuff:
Chair, umbrella, sun screen, bug spray, GoPro or other hard mounted camera, extra shirt, helmet sock.

Other details: If you have stock brake fluid I highly encourage you to have it changed over to a high-temp brake fluid. Stock fluid boils very easily and will give you lots of brake fade - not fun.
Clean out your car! Nothing in the trunk or back seat or under the seats!!! Objects become missles at high speeds!

I'll be sending out the "details" email this week to all the track participants.

Newbie here. Just signed up for the seminar. Having owned a few Mustangs over the years, the John Clor presentation will be great info on the background of our newest addition GT500. We were hoping to have good weather to drive up in the Shelby, but it looks like it's going to be a soggy weekend.

Not a drop of rain the whole day! Track was pretty damp for the first session, but for the most part dried up nicely. Harris Hill does always have that "water feature" when it has rained, but other than that it was a great day!

The seminar was fantastic as well and John provided some great information.

I want to thank everyone who came out and played with us. I just wish I got to spend a bit more time with all the new people!!!
