: Steeda Coldair System
Veezerboy 10-21-2007, 08:04 PM Is anyone using this system?? I was looking at this plus the pully, but saw the post about the Ford Racing system, but $800 is a bit steep. I see that somepeople are using the JTL system, so I would like to hear what everyone has to say about their systems.
Thanks
Ron
lqqkngr8 10-22-2007, 07:42 AM I used the steeda cold air system and change the pulley to a 2.8 and custom tune got 530 rwhp and 519 torque

That seems to be really good numbers for a 2.8" pulley! You used a pulley other than the Steeda? I was thinking theirs was 2.7".
Good job!
snichols 10-22-2007, 02:18 PM I used Sreeda Axle Backs, CAI, and Pully. Really pleased with the results.

Have you had a dyno run since intalling?
snichols 10-22-2007, 08:14 PM No dyno run yet. Don't have access in my area so it will be a while before I get it done. Steeda info claims over 125 hp gain. Seat of the pants says it is a big improvement. We have a test and tune session at our local drag stip this friday and I plan on making a couple runs. Will post the results.
lqqkngr8 10-23-2007, 05:23 AM The pulley was a steeda the size might have been 2.7 I thought it was 2.8
GT500Rocket 10-23-2007, 02:47 PM I just installed the CAI and Steeda tune on saturday and this thing pulls like a monster now and the throttle response is much better. Did anyone try any of the options on the SCT in addition to the CAI custom tune from Steeda? Since I don't have local access to a dyno I would be interested in seeing some numbers with CAI and tune only, anybody got some?

I'm in central FL, and am thinking about some performance upgrades in the Spring.
Justin at VMP is closeby. Guy who does my yardwork wants to put on NO2 (No thanks). Steeda is a drive but within range. EVO is way too far away. May be some shops in Orlando or Miami area (None I know about though), but leaning toward a shop that'll do it all (Like Steeda).
Might be nice to make a spreadsheet - everyone could give their DYNO results and type of Stage 2 equipment they installed & tune.
How does the Steeda Stage 2 compare to VMP and other Stage 2 (such as EVO)? Like the sound of VMP better, but only want to take it one place - in case of problems may avoid fingerpointing.
I'm planning on the Stage 2 - not sure about a pulley idler arm or the Re-Gapped spark plugs... any PROS/CONS please list them here. While I'm at it, might add that 107 octane gas is available in the area, and was wondering of there is any benefit to using it on a stage 2 car (Zero timing advance I hear on the stock, so unlikely to provide benefit).
I'd also like the Steeda equivalent of the ultimate suspension upgrade and lowering kit, single piece DS + loop, Maybe the Tri-Ax shifter, and definately full SS headers and exhaust (like the sound of Flowmaster and the Bassani best), and definately 3.73 gears. Hi-perf intercooler upgrade would be nice too though little data on the benefit of that one (Its HOT here in FL all the time).
Whew! Got it all out there! Anone with experience dealing with Steeda, I'd like to hear about the results - I'd plan to take it to their ?Palm Beach? shop? Not sure but think its north of Miami and on Atlantic coast...

GT500Rocket 10-24-2007, 10:10 AM TD Steeda is in Pompano Beach. When I ordered my CAI they were very friendly and knowledgeable. I spoke with Steve and they did just what they said so I was pleased.

So did you do the work yourself, sounds like you had Steeda do it? If you had Steeda do the work, how long did you have to leave it there? Can I assume you're also in Florida? What all did you have done again?
I'm going to need to have a shop do the work. I had no problem wrenching on my 1980 Camaro (full engine swap and lots of fun), but that was a long time ago, and I'd hate to screw something up on the Shelby.

TD,
I wouldn't really worry about installing a CAI on your Shelby. It really is a piece of cake. A few clamps to take off the stock one, a few clamps to install the new one, plug in the handheld tuner, and push go.
It'll save you some $$, plus I'm of the opinion if you want it done right, do it yourself.

I haven't wrenched on a car in a long time. I'm sure I could handle the CAI and tune too. I was initially thinking that I was going to do a Stage 4 plus other goodies, but I think in oder to do that, its going to mean taking vacation time off to drive the 1000 miles to EVO up in Ashton PA (wherever that is!), spending some quality time on the curb sipping Dr. Pepper and eating chocolates (or something equally dull - who knows, never been to Ashton). I'm torn. Steeda is closeby, but sounds like people are very happy with EVO. Justin at VMP could do the tune and CAI, but I don't think he'll do the other things I'd like.... I could probably do it all myself if I had an appropriate shop, and lots of time, but I don't have that luxury. I also might goof up and end up with regrets. I've not spoken with anyone at Steeda, but I'm not as impressed with their website offerings as I am with the EVO site. I'm beginning to think about doing a simple CAI + Tune, and sit on that for a while (Instant gratification is good) while I weigh my options for a more robust Credit Card Bill, and <sigh> a long road trip up 95 to PA.....
Heck, I may even order the CAI and tune from Justin tonight and install it this weekend!!! Yee Haw!!!

GT500Rocket 10-25-2007, 01:04 PM TD, yeah I did it myself. Not a big deal. The worst part of the whole thing was getting the real nice billet Steeda logo to attach to the tube for a sensor. I had to redrill the holes to line up but man is it strong and worth the little extra aggravation. I know you said you are leaning toward the Evo and I am sure their products are very good but just remember if you are concerned about Steeda that they are the #1 aftermarket manufacturer for Mustang parts. Also it seems to me that I read somewhere that the 9 second Evo car uses the Steeda CAI which is suppose to give an additional 92 or so extra hp which is more than any of the others say their's will porduce. I am not working for or pushing the Steeda just giving you some insight. By the way I live in Savannah, Ga. which is about 6 hours from Steeda in Pompano Beach but they also have a facility in Valdosta, Ga. which may be closer for you. Anyway whatever you decide to do best of luck.
