I don't think anyone has reported on the K&N system on this forum yet. I am not positive, but I think they advertise that a tune is not necessary with their kit. That didn't seem correct from what we see from the other CAIs. The only ones I have seen on this forum are the JLT (using a couple different tunes I think) and Steeda. I am waiting for C&L to deliver mine! I am told pretty soon!

You might try searching over on StangsUnleashed!

Thanks,
RonExcellent Choice of Air Intake System for these Shelby GT 500 Vehicles, as we have several satisfied customers using these, especially when they increase the horsepower an additonal 53.71 more HP.

There have been a few tests done on the K&N CAI by a few tuners on a few forums.

Basically - the CAI IS a good one. Flows well.

HOWEVER... (and this is a BIG however) they all showed a VERY LEAN situation when running just the CAI without a tune. LEAN = very bad for SC engines!!

If you're going to get this - make sure you get a tune for it as well. VMP and Evolution have very good tunes that give good power and keep everything within safe operating range (especially the air/fuel ratios).

I currently run one on my car, works great, makes good power, same gains as all the other CAIs out there, you just need to tune it.

Mine is the K&N. Made 521hp with a tune and axlebacks. As many stated here, It was very very lean on the first run. On/off throttle changes at low RPM resulted in shudder and even cut-off at very low rpm due to fuel trim stuff that I do not know everything about. After the tune though, smooth as silk.

They tuned one with a JLT couple weeks ago and made 520hp. Comparable to that peice maybe...
