Long story short, I went to remove my steering wheel and the idiot before me put the large center bolt in cross threaded. I need to HeliCoil the hole so I can re-install my steering wheel.

Does anyone near Arlington have a HeliCoil Kit that I can use a single tap? I can pay.

Picked up the kit from O'Reilly's Auto parts.

If you ever strip find yourself with stripped out threads, the Heli-Coil system is well worth the price.

Consider Time Serts (http://www.timesert.com/) as well. I use way more HeliCoils then I do Time Serts, but in some applications I prefer the solid Time sert.

If you in a jam, Napa sells re-branded Heli-Coil, basically they have access to the whole line.. more $$ then a straight up Heli-Coil most times, but they can get anything in the line up in a day or so if not on the shelf... Hate the cost, but have used the access to what i needed more then once.

Wow, that Time Sterts system looks better. I will try that one in the future.

Nothing wrong with HeliCoil, been using them for a lot of years.. Cheaper most times, easier to find, more knowledge widely available for HeliCoil, then Time Cert.

Some applications you can not use a time sert for unless you have the ability to countersink and finish machine.. if the hole to be repaired has a flush mounting part that attaches to it.. the time sert hole has to be machined to the timer sert can be counter sunk... Where as a HeliCoil is just put into place to depth, or simple trimmed off at the top.

I've never had luck with Helicoils or Time Certs. Always seem to back out with the bolt on me. I Just tap for a larger bolt now.
