Just got my car tuned and made 535 with 2.6 pulley, K&N CAI, borla and car runs good with no engine light anything.

Just for giggles I read DTCs and it read P1227: Wastegate Failed Close (over boost)

Is there something wrong with the wastegate?

Anybody help, Im getting fairly desperate. Where is the bypass valve is there a picture, is it possible the line going into that valve could have blown off?

How do you replace the waste gate? or should I say bypass valve?...I dont have to get a new S/C do I, cause the dealer knows its pullied and Im sure they are going to tell me tough luck. ... :(

Hey Travis there is some information about these superchargers and wastegates in this other thread. If you still have some questions I would call Van at revan racing, he is a site sponsor. And no you wont need to replace your SC. Hope this helps.

Check the vacuum lines going to the wastegate. I had same issue 2 weeks ago, patching the vacuum line fixed my problem.

Sounds good Plasman!

Jayhawk- how do these lines create leaks in the hose? The car I have doesnt even have 2800 miles on it. How did you patch it (with what)

Also is there a picture of the actual wastegate, I couldnt locate it.

The oil changer at the Ford Dealership was like "Oh you dont have one of those! Those are for like turbo charged cars!" I was like "Are you kidding me? Where does all the pressure bleed off then when you got WOT and take your foot off the gas??" he told me that it just gets "used up" I said.. "Hmm okay"

I don't have a photo. The wastegate is on the drivers side behind and below the elbow, there should be one vacuum line running along the backside of the SC with a silver tinny heat shield sleeve. I am not sure how mine developed a hole, I think the heat shield moved and bumped into the EGR tube or a hot SC housing during a hard pull at WOT. I just patched it with electrical tape for now, slicing with rubber vacuum line might be more effective. I just ordered a new one from ford $27.

The Leak was very noticeable on the backside of the SC once I popped the hood with it running.

There are a few other posts with other possibilities if you search P1227.

When you mean noticeable, what symptoms did you notice?

Car has no Check Engine Lights: no codes thrown(except the occasional P1227 which I ask Richard about and he said that was normal and will get thrown time to time but wont set the light off), but wont pass inspection because certain areas of the PCM wont communicate with the state computer. I call ed Richard at Strictly and he said it should pass inspection no problems. The car has the cats on and when viewing live time data shows everything working properly but for some reason wont communicate with the State computer for inspection.

When you mean noticeable, what symptoms did you notice?

Sounded like rushing air as if letting air out of a tire.

Car drove fine, just no boost, so felt sluggish.

You said this was recently tuned, might try to reset PCM, disconnect battery for 30 sec or so, if code comes back. If it does try to reload the tune to make sure everything downloaded properly, or contact the tuner to make sure they did things correct on their end.

Last resort, put everything back to stock and see if it still happens.

Those would be my suggestions.
