I finally got around to removing the stripes from my GT500 1:18 scale die cast, it took me two days, one for sanding and prep and the other for painting. I think it turned out pretty good.

You could get a white with blue stripe GT500 die cast and mask off the blue stripes and paint them red, just a thought.

ELITE 1 how did you remove the stripes?

Because if you masked it off and painted the stripes red you did a damn good job.

It was quite involved, I took the whole car apart, removed the windows, doors, interior, trunk, hood, anything that could come apart I did it. I then sanded the whole car so that the stripes were no longer going to be visible after I painted it, then I masked off all the areas that I didn't want to get paint on like the drip rails in the roof, hood grilles, head lights, and the engine compartment. I used paint from wal-mart and used an air brush kit to spray the car, my work bench looked like a little auto body shop, lol. I carefully put it all back together and there you have it, two days worth of work, and a perfect copy of the real thing.

Wow, looks like it was totally worth it tho.

Now all you need is to somehow paint ELITE 1 on the radiator somewhere. Haha.
