: Evolution Performance, Inc. - 2008 Shelby GT500 Tuning - First To The Market!
Evolution Performance 08-29-2007, 08:23 AM We are proud to announce that we have completed our testing for the 2008 Shelby GT500.
We have extensively tested the 2008 Shelby GT500 with our tunes and have every modification combination covered.
Tuner Only, Stage 1 – Stage 4 Kits will be available to order on our site momentarily.
There is a difference in the 2008 Shelby GT500 Strategy compared to the 2007.
Ford/SVT has gotten way more aggressive with torque reduction (Nothing our tunes won't take care of), some emission stuff, and drivability tweaks in the 2008 strategy.
All the Horsepower and Torque results with our Staged Kits are right in line with what we produced with the 2007 Shelby GT500's.
We look forward to working with all the new 2008 Shelby GT500 owners, and will continue to support our 2007 Shelby GT500 Owners.

rpretzel 08-29-2007, 08:27 AM Congrats, Fred!!!! Can't wait to see some dyno numbers from some of your happy customers.
bogey1222 08-29-2007, 11:23 AM Well, here's a happy customer. In fact I'm sitting at EVO PC as I type. 2nd trip down for "STUFF". Fred, Nelson, Jr, Pat, Steve and all the guys at EVO are great to work with. They sell quality products, and have the expertise to install, and fine tune what they sell.
My DYNO etc, was done last trip, 551.6 RWHP was the 1st run. and the 3rd was 550.9. RWHP.
The difference driving MY BABY is amazing. The full suspension package, Steda shifter, lowering kit, CAI, pulleys has made a blistering BABY, and owner, very happy. And today Tokico shocks and struts, Vista Blue window tint(not that foil looking crap)with 2 additional ghost stripes down the back.
Next trip down here, about 2.5-3 hours, will be after the new year, and who knows what will come next. Perhaps an inner-cooler, maybe 410 g's. You never know.
These guys are the real thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D Bring your wallet. You're gonna want it all;) ;)

Bogey, sounds like we're running right in there together. I'm also heavily considering the 410s as well. I just don't want to significantly give up that top-end that I love.

You are correct,it never ends.Just my opinion but you may want to rethink the 4.10's.Just entertain the thought.I have the 3.73's and I think it is perfect.When you are on the freeway I don't think you will like 4.10's.If you plan on never going on the freeway or you just plan to drag then I would say go for it.Just something to think about bud.:cool:

I'm with you, thinking enough off the line already, want top end+++ :D :D
Thanks Fred, sounds like a happy compromise. No official dragging for me. Only red light racing once in a while. Left the local Z06 in rear view end of last week.......He was shocked!!!!!!!!!!

croz98gt 09-05-2007, 07:10 AM what are the gear ratio's for the t-6060 tansmission. I know 6th gear in not 1.00 probably more like .60
does anyone have the ratio's?

Gear ratios
1st 2.97
2nd 1.78
3rd 1.3
4th 1.0
5th .80
6th .63
croz98gt 09-06-2007, 06:30 AM Gear ratios
1st 2.97
2nd 1.78
3rd 1.3
4th 1.0
5th .80
6th .63

croz98gt 09-06-2007, 07:18 AM stock tires 285/40/18 (tire height is 27 inches)
4.56 @ 65mph is 2324rpm with stock tires
4.10 @ 65mph is 2089rpm with stock tires
3.73 @ 65mph is 1901rpm with stock tires
3.31 @ 65mph is 1687rpm with stock tires
__________________________________
Now with 305/35/20 (tire height is 28.4 inches)
3.31 @ 65mph is 1604rpm
3.73 @ 65mph is 1809rpm
4.10 @ 65mph is 1986rpm
4.56 @ 65mph is 2209rpm
_____________________________
Top Speed @ 6000rpms in 6th gear
stock tires
4.56 = 167.9mph
4.10 = 186.7mph
3.73 = 205.1mph
3.31 = 231.1mph
now top speed with 20's
4.56 = 176.5mph
4.10 = 196.3mph
3.73 = 215.8mph
3.31 = 243.2mph
I used these calculator list in the previous post to come up with this info. The the calculators are correct why wouldn't you put 4.10's or maybe even 4.56's?
Face it driving down the highway with 4.10's @ 65mph @ less than 2100rpms is not bad and if you want to you can go almost 187mph in 6th gear (how often are you going to do that?) and if you put 20's on your rpm will lower because it is a taller tire. I think I will be putting 4.10's in eventually!
Hope this helps everone and I espicially hope these damn calculators are correct!

I read through this entire thread and I have to agree with Fred. 4.10s will suck your gas and leave you without a decent first gear, or second if using stock tires. I swapped to 3.73s a few weeks ago and think they are perfect. For those of you that go to the track I cross the line at 6000 in 4th if not a bit higher but I am not bumping the limiter.

Was there an explanation as to how much reduction there was on stock 08 vs stock 07's??

Why would they be any different...HP ratings are the same.

fllaw1 03-01-2008, 07:17 AM With the 08 having the upgraded balancer and all, you wouldn't think that. :rolleyes:
68fastback 03-01-2008, 11:08 AM I suspect Fred's not talking about peak values (dunno) but more likely about how it comes on -- area under the curve. Both '07s and '08s should wind up essentially the same after tuning, imo.
Ford's factory tunes are, necessarily, very conservative -- especially as they relate to catalytic element temps/life since manufacturers must replace [at their expense] catalytic converters that don't meet the Federally-mandated lifespan -- 50K last I looked but could be considerably more now.
Another example MIGHT be (I say "might" since I'm just supposing and using this as an example) that the '08 damper's lighter weight (and different '08 crank) might alter throttle-response dynamics (especially on fast shifts) which Ford may have decided to therefore dumb-down further than on the '07 to preserve similar drive-line/chassis stress/peak-load profiles, or rev-limiter responsiveness/effectiveness etc. and possibly more.
Of course, all of this is controlled by the ECU and a quality tune will tweak parameters to greatly enhance throttle-response and driving dymnamics on the '07 or '08 (as well as HP/Tq depending on mods) to essentially equivalent levels (since both engines use essentially the same components) ...within the bounds of prudent risk.
Since more power necessarily presents more risk to many components, knowledgeable tuners strive to minimize the more significant risks inherent in producing both more power -- whether peak or area under the curve or both -- while maximizing the overall curves. This is especially important on fixed-disp S/C motors where aggressive timing not properly 'managed' can scrap an S/C motor in a heartbeat. Making more HP/Tq with a tune is relatively easy. Doing it prudently with large HP/Tq increases is why putting your engine in the hands of a knowledgeable and *experienced* tuner is so important, imo.
Short answer, when getting an aftermarket tune, factory tune differences in the '07 and '08 become, in essence, irrelevant because the aftermarket tune will change them both. The RA (damper/crank) differences might actually give the '08 a tiny edge -- which *may* be why Ford *might* have chose to dumb it down a bit to begin with -- dunno, just a thought.
My comments are just intended in a general context to maybe put the 07/08 Qs in some perspective but not meant as a specific answer since I have no firsthand parametric info on Evo tunes, etc.

Justin@VMP 03-03-2008, 11:58 AM I was actually talking to one of my friends at ford racing about this a few weeks ago. The 2008 GT500 uses very similar programming, except for some small changes for the EVAP system and changes to the missfire monitor for the lighter 08 balancer.
The programming that controls power output at WOT, spark and air/fuel ratio, is the same between 07 and 08.
In my experience the 08s dyno the same #s when stock and tuned, compared to 07s.
To the end user, there is effectively no difference.

68fastback 03-04-2008, 12:53 PM I was actually talking to one of my friends at ford racing about this a few weeks ago.
Good insight! Thanks, Justin.
