First off...hi!...new guy here from Charleston, SC.

Have had my 2010 GT500 for about a month and having some issues with P0300 random misfire codes.

2 weeks ago: Check engine light. Take into shop. P0300 (random misfire code). No hard fault seen at shop. Code cleared, and advised to "drive hard" every once in a while (actual tech hotline advice), and ensure premium fuel is used (it always is...93 no ethanol).

1 week ago: Check engine light. Take into shop. P0300 as well as P0304 and P0307. Random misfire and misfire in cylinders 4 and 7. Shop changed spark plugs 4 and 7, did some testing, cleared code and all good again.

Couple days ago: Check engine light. Check code at home...P0300 and P0304. Light on for 1 day, and then this morning, miraculously light is off.

2010 with ~13,000 miles. No mods, all stock.

What are my next steps? Still look at plugs...move to wires...why would this continue to happen, what else can they check? I don't think the 2010's have the crank relearn process or do they? Would I even need to have that done?

I had a similar problem with my 2008 shortly after I purchased it (used with 6000 miles). I would get the P0300 code now and then. I couldn't seem to track the problem down. She finally stored a lean code as well and I traced it down to a pinched air intake boot on the bottom side of the throttle body that was allowing a vacuum leak. There is no way to see it. You just have to remove the air intake from the front of the throttle body to check it. With the codes you mention , you have a random missfire and cyl #4 and #7 storing missfires. It is unlikely that you have bad plugs (shop changed them) it's also fairly unlikely that you have 2 bad coils on seperate banks at the same time. A fuel delivery problem could be the cause. I would start with checking for vacuum leaks. You may have to have a ford dealer run a monitor test , which will typically run you 2 hours of diagnoistic labor time.

Excellent info...thanks!

I will take a look around for anything hoses/tubes not tight or the sign of a vacuum leak. Luckily still under warranty, so if it starts popping up again, I will let them do the monitor test and heavy lifting.
