I entered my baby into a car show and had a lot of fun. However, I didn't win one of the top three placings for Trophies though a funny thing did happen. I parked my car right next to the lined off area where the cars were on display.
The funny thing is that I only went there to look at the other cars that had entered, low and behold, I had people coming out of the lined off area to look at my car. I had groups of people admiring my car and the staff, judges and everyone was wondering why they were coming outside of the fenced off area to look at my car. I had one of the staff members ask me would I put the Shelby in the show since everyone was looking at it and kind of taking away from the actual cars in the show. Yeahhhhhhh Shelby Cobra.:D :D
Well, I went home and washed it real quick and brought it back and entered it. Out of 17 mustangs that entered, I placed 4th overall (not too bad) but considering my competition, I had no chance at competing against the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. The 1st place mustang was a 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500. Guys, this car was the real deal and had a $15,000 paint job added to it. The guy told me that it only comes out for car shows and nothing else and that he waxes it every 2 weeks. No way in hell do I have that kind of time. From top to bottom this car was beautiful and definitely deserved a 1st place finish. The 2nd place car was a pristine Saleen Mustang and I can't remember the year but it was indeed a beaut and the 3rd place winner was a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang that, I think, should have placed 2nd overall. I talked to many at this car show and guys, I am astonished at how much time people really devote to their car. Wow, $15,000.00 for a paint job and wax every two weeks - Geeeeeeee. Another funny thing is, out of like 7 different classes being judged, it was always the older 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s car taking all the trophies. Though the newest cars in the show were pretty much new like mine, yet they couldn't compete against the older, $$$$$$$ paint and restoration cars out there. People do spend money on their rides.
Guys, bottom line is our cars get the attention also. To have them come out of the lined off area to look at my car was simply gratifying as most there did know what a Shelby Cobra GT500 was. Damn, I love my Shelby:D :D :D :D :D
