bj

I met that guy (Tom) at one of the Friday car shows at the Valpo Target. He is a pipefitter contractor supervisor. He does some work out here at the mill periodically. His vert is black with tungsten stripes. You should try to make one of the Friday night shows. It will be in the Wal-mart parking lot from now on because Target doesn't want it anymore. A couple of weeks ago some ricers showed up and caused some problems. This show is huge. There had to be over 200 cars last weekend.

He said he just got the SHELBY plate this year. The fellow that had it, had it for 17 years and for some reason didn't renew it. I beleive he said the guy was pretty elderly. He stayed in touch with the BMV and applied for it when the doors opened the first day it was available.

BTW. I still have my black/white striped vert. I had it sold but the guy's financing fell through. I only have 191 miles on it and am not sure now if I want to sell it now or get one of the Shelby packages done to it. I really like the white/red stripes coupe and would probably trade it for one if anyones interested.:)

Cal,
That is cool that you really like my color combo!:D

Not sure if you seen the final production number on the Red appearance PKG.

supposed to make 500 total.

but only made 297 in totals

128 white
169 black

which makes the white w/ red the rarest 2007 GT500, wish I would have known all this before i pulled the pulley off. Oh well I will still have fun with my car, as I am young and dumb and full of (well you know what).....hehe

Good luck finding someone to trade with if not you could always get your money out of your vert, not like you are going to lose anything on it!

That is one of the rarest combos. I wish the red package had been available when I ordered the vert.:(

If I don't trade it for a white/red I may sit on it and see if somewhere down the road I can trade it for a Supercharged Hemi Challenger. :D That would look cool in the garage with the white/blue coupe.

Very nice!

What is the hood made from? Aluminum?

I was reading the window sticker today - looking for the Vin number as I called 1-800-FORD-SVT to ask about the certificates (was told they've not been authorized to sell them yet but were taking numbers to call back in anticipation).

Anyway, I noticed on the sticker (getting back on track) that the stock hood is aluminum. I hadn't realized this, thinking it was the same as the other body parts.

Have you had the car re-dynoed with the new hood? I wonder if a dyno would accurately reflect the potential increase in HP that might result from the increased air flow since the isn't moving- not sure if its technically a ram-air situation, but you know what I mean. Must be a way to calculate this perhaps by drag times under identical conditions (yeah right).

The hood is fiberglass. As for the dyno....from a static dyno standpoint you won't see any difference because your car is dyno'd with the hood open and generally a fan blowing on it. Where you MIGHT tell a difference is in traffic, hood closed. The stock extractors don't do squat for induction, only elimination of the hot air directly below the grills. On this hood, the twin snorkels route directly to the air filter and the NACA extractors are about a foot aft of the stock ones. So, fresh air comes through the front grille....over the engine...and out the back/top extractors. The induction is a completely separate process.

I can tell you that I get about 1.5mpg better after the hood was installed. I didn't change my tune for the reasons described above (fan and open hood vs this hood closed=same)

Hey BJ I m having the twist locks put on but Im doing the work on them so I can afford the hood. He wants a bit more okay alot more for him to do the pins again. So I thought I will do that work and use a guy I know to machine the pins. Also he said that he had talked with some company in Pennsylvania that wants to buy his mold. So it doesnt sound like Terry will be doing this hood to much longer at his place.

Yeah, it's been very popular with the whipple people. Terry said he'd had a couple of offers on it. I was told he wanted a minimum of 600 to do the locks. Doesn't surprise me.

Yes, I'm doing the twist locks. Terry wants $600 to do them though. If you can get mine done at the same time as yours, I'll split any costs. I'm not scheduled yet. Terry said he has about 6 hoods ahead of me. He said he'll call back in about 2 weeks to schedule the install. So far I haven't committed to all the particulars. Thanks Flip.

It's very easy to do. They are held on with 3m tape. Just heat them up with a hair dryer and gently pry them off. Be careful not to scratch the paint. I then used adhesive remover to remove any residue. Get yourself a stool and take your time.

I ordered a new set of letters from Blue oval Industries.
part #EM1655-
$34.95

I spaced the lettering as below.

I'm not sure about the front lettering yet. I don't know if I'm going with the same size font or something smaller like that is on the Shelby GT.

[QUOTE=VNMOUS1;11879]Here ya go kids. First looks.

V1, what did you do about the washer nozzles? Noticed the tubing goes down inside the right quarterpanel. Don't think i'll need them with this hood, as mine never hits the rain. Would rather leave them attached to the stock hood when i remove it. Thoughts.

He relocates the nozzles...sort of. You retain the old ones for your stock hood and Terry uses the ones that clip onto the blades from a Ford SUV. They work fine and they don't screw up the looks of the new hood (and they don't get blue crap staining your white stripes).

They don't relocate the blades. They stay exactly where they are.

Thx V1, i'll be driving up to get the hood and bringing it home to install myself. 12hr road trip and not taking the car is best. plan on leaving stock nozzles on stock hood and maybe just coiling up the tube and tucking it under the quarter panel. havent decided yet.

Why don't you just have him ship the hood to you then? He is going to box up my old hood and ship it to my house.

Cal,
This is 1 mod I always wanted to do.You did such a nice job I went and did mine.Looks great.Anyone else that is going to do this just remember to get your letter L correct.I almost put mine on wrong.Nice job Cal.:D

Thanks Fred. I haven't heard of anyone who does not like it over the stock letters.

Got a pic yet?

Sweeeeeeet! I love the way it dramatically changes the appearance of the rear.

Anyone else considering it should not be intimidated. Get yourself a stool to sit on and take your time. When your done, grab a beer and do what I did and stare at it for the next 1/2 hr.:D

He doesn't ship them painted, only un-painted ones he ships. Fine by me, need a vacation anyway before i head to the desert of death.
