Final gear ratio for 2008 gt500

I have a flat rock base GT500 & was going to change r & p to 3.55 for highway & was told that I will be gong in the wrong direction for my car came equipped with 3.31's

Any one can confirm gear ratio pleae advise.

What kind of driving do you do? Most people go with 3.73s for around town, stock 3.31s for highway and 3.55 for 50/50 each way. Of course, 3.73s will provide the best acceleration though.

2008 GT500.
18/5/14 - VMP TVS Gen I installed with a VMP high flow inlet elbow and 2.50" pulley. NGK TR7ix plugs gapped at .035".

4R70W fully automatic including shifting, O/D and lockup.
Australian RHD conversion.

3.31 is the stock gear.

2008, 2.9L Whipple on 'built' engine w/ GT cams, JLT 123 CAI, FRPP T65 TB, BBK LT and midpipe, triple pump fuel w/ Fore hat, Division X fuel rails, Aeromotive regulator, Cobra Jet oil pan, JDM Tune, Tein CO, MGW gen2 Shifter, OR X, Borla Touring, 1-piece Al DS, 10% Lower, 3:55, Revan HE, HP radiator w/13 Fan shroud, 3X coolant, 170F thermo, Aerofroce scan gauge, BMR adj UCA & LCA & Panhard; 680 RWHP on 93.

why not just check your window sticker? (paper or online)

I thought the older ones had either 3.55 or 3.73

2007-2008 came with 3.55s stock I believe

I have never seen any optional gear sets listed as something available from the Ford assy. line, only 3.31 as the standard install for 2007-2009 GT500 with no rear gear options, Track Packs etc. for those years.

The only Ford dealership sold GT500 that had a gear set that was not 3.31 was the 2008/09 GT500KR with the 3.73. <<Was that a Bullitt rear axle assy.? or did the Bullitt come with 3.55's, I don't remember........

^ yes.

3.31 is the only ratio available for 07-09.

2007 Shelby GT500 - White blue stripes, JLT, 2.5", VMP tune, AFCO H/E, 2010 clutch, CHE upper/lower control arms, QA1 adjustable rear shocks - production #360 of all GT500 coupes.
Got SQL? Avic-X940BT, Kicker DX1000.1, Kicker IX500.4, Kicker DX500.1, Kicker Solo-Baric L7 12", 1x Kicker CompRT 8"(midbass), 4x Kicker CS6x8, 2x Kicker QS65.2 in place of door subs. Dynamatted doors, trunk, trunk lid, spare tire well, under rear seats. Big 3/power/grounds w/ 0ga Kolossus Flex, XP950 AGM.
