Re: 2015 Mustang

300hp 2.3T is nothing to scoff at. Those are excellent numbers. With tuning, the "SVO" will be a gem with the "import" tuning crowd. I imagine a lot of "competition" between the tuners and the 5.0L crowd. Should be fun.

Re: 2015 Mustang

Very interesting.....glad to see that Ford is putting more and more thought into the Mustang. I remember the late 80's when it got so stagnent. There was no difference between a 2.3l mustang and a 2.3l tempo.

Re: 2015 Mustang

Ford dives back into the 4 cylinder Turbo business. I'm sure that with all the technological advancements, this car will bu much, much better than the 80's Thunderbirds.

Re: 2015 Mustang

I am a big fan of the retro look, the 90's mustang was hideous...(my opinion of course). I wonder if we are not heading into another serious of mustangs with the new design. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a 4 cylinder mustang, while the power is good, the weight is my concern, 4 cylinder engines do much better in a lighter car.

Should be interesting to see what Ford does for the 2015!

Re: 2015 Mustang

I just don't classify a 4 cyl or a V6 for that matter, turbocharged or whatever as a muscle car.

Re: 2015 Mustang

A 4 banger in a Mustang makes it a ricer, especially with a turbocharger setup. If this happens get ready for fan boys adding huge wings to the back, a bunch of tacky stickers and thinking they are drift professionals.

Re: 2015 Mustang

In my experience..... All turbos run good off the show room floor. Once they have some miles on them, is when they start to show what they are really worth.

Exhaust heat can be a very tricky animal to contain. Plus, in some of today's turbos, there are a lot more mechanical parts involved to regulate boost. And they sometimes don't play well with heat either. Sure hope they stick on the cold side of things for longevity sake.

Re: 2015 Mustang

If you love your gas-guzzling mega-horsepower muscle-car Mustang, then you shouldn't be complaining one bit if Ford is finding more and better ways to market the Mustang to a wide audience...

Why?? Because our Shelbys don't pay the bills at Ford... If all Ford offered was a V8 Mustang to the public, then there would be no Mustang, because there wouldn't be enough buyers to underwrite the effort. Just look at current Mustang sales, they rather stink... And that's with a 662hp model holding down the fort on the performance side of the see-saw... It's pretty damn obvious that Ford can't sell any more V8 Mustangs than they already are, that demand is satisfied and sated, so they've gotta find ready and willing buyers elsewhere in the marketsphere.

I think a turbo-4 Mustang at a killer entry price will attract FLOCKS of younger people... Who will then become "Mustang people", and go on in life to climb up the Mustang performance ladder towards V8's and halo-versions...

Mods: VMP TVS, 2.4" pulley, VMP elbow, CJ dual-65mm TB, res-delete, AFCO H/E.

660.42 rwhp, 641.74 rwtq

Dyno results were with old 2.59" pulley and before the AFCO H/E...
