Many non-KR owners have bought and installed the KR mufflers from FRPP, but not many also added the unique H-pipe that was part of the KR exhaust system that was designed by SVT.
I think a company called Power House Racing Products (PHRP) offered a similar KR style H-Pipe for $250+ and I don't think it had clamps included for that price. It is now discontinued.
I may un-install my 3" mandrel Shelby/JBA Super Snake 700 system and downsize to 2.5" again, I seemed to have lost some lower end torque with that 3" and I have always liked the sound of the GT500KR system. The H-Pipe shown above was always the elusive part to find......until now.
Dennis had his installed already. Perfect condition. Mine is still sitting in the Shelby box, as I am awaiting install until I've either gone w/the FR500S mufflers or something else.

I'm actually looking for some 2.5" to 4" double wall angle cut or at least with a rolled tip to weld on the s mufflers. Any leads would be appreciated. I'm not a fan of straight tips.
The reason I was going to stay with 4" straight is because that is the KR muffler look and the 3.5" tips look too "Mustang GTish" in those valance openings. Ebay has many options, Pypes sells a nice pair of angle tips, but they say "Pypes" on them. I saw a pair of angled 2.5" to 4" Borla's on eBay, like comes on the Super Snake and came on my car after Shelby upgraded it and then there are many double wall options that are angle cut, some rolled, some not that have no names on them. In most cases they are not expensive. Put "2.5" to 4" tips" in the Ebay search, you will see many options. Some of them have a "blued" look, like heated on the tip...............YUCK IMHO, but to each his own. If they did sell, they wouldn't be making them with the "blued" look.
When I do this, I am going to have the original KR tips removed in such a way that they can be re-installed on my mufflers, or.........you never know, there may be a KR owner who needs/wants correct original new tips for some one reason or another long after the KR mufflers are obsolete.
Yeah, I found a few sets that I could live with. I'll install the mufflers and run 'em as is for a bit, maybe they'll grow on me.
If not, I know of the options.
Even though I already bought the straight cut 4", I may do the same. I have 4" tips on my car now, so it will be quite a change to go to 3.5", but I agree about installing the KR's as they are and run them first before a possible tip mod.
I would have to do a stare and compare with a tape measure to verify that the 7" length would work with these KR mufflers and the GT500 rare valance. I know 8" length will work fine, but I am not sure about 7"..............They would need to be just right, not too far in, and not too far out.
Yes, I noticed the perforated inner wall when I looked at the KR mufflers a few years ago. I am guess that the holes and the packing behind those holes are to absorb some sound as the exhaust opens up from the 2.5" outlet into the 3.5" tip?
I wonder if installing a non-perforated 2.5" to 4" outlet/tip will change that exiting exhaust sound? For better or for worse? There would definitely be an expansion difference of the hot exhaust gasses as they exit the muffler body 2.5" to 3.5" vs. 2.5" to 4".............or will there even be a sound difference? IDK......
Well, Dennis came over today to show off his new FR500S cans. They offered a very different sound than my Steeda cans (rebadged Borla S-types.)
They were actually louder than my Steedas- very surprising- more guttural and cracked more on decel but I could not detect the drone issue prevalent in so many aftermarket cans. On cruise, the FR500S cans were nearly silent but when you got on the gas, it was a whole different ball game.
After we parked in the driveway, 2 of my neighbors came over to give a listen and we had an "exhaust-off". One neighbor liked the FR500S cans better and reminded me that I had been looking for that sound ever since I bought the GT500. The other neighbor felt it was a toss-up.
Me? Well, I think the FR500S cans, along w/the Shelby h pipe, added that low rumble that my stock x-pipe equipped GT500 lacked. So now I'm wondering if I should add the H pipe first, give that a listen w/the Steeda cans before buying the FR500S cans.
And personally, I like the tips on the FR500S cans- wouldn't trade them- look just like my old Bullitt muffler tips & fit the GT500's rear end.

I recently installed FR500S, they sound great, zero drone. I have the H pipe I need to install but for now I am very happy with them. You should try the H pipe with the Steedas, you never know??
I had the Steeda cans and h pipe on my Bullitt and loved they way they sounded on that car/engine. The sound they made inside the car, well that 4.6l engine just made the right sounds inside & outside.
The Steedas sound great from the outside w/the GT500's engine- deep & bassy- but not as much inside. I'm assuming it's the x pipe's doing, along w/the 5.4 l engine, & I'm just not a fan of x pipes, ergo the purchase of the Shelby H pipe before the F500S cans.
I may give the H pipe at shot @ the Steedas before I go FR500S.
