FordInsideNews.com will be hosting a exclusive, live chat with Eric Kuehn, chief engineer of the 2011 Ford F-150.
A thread has been started here and will be where the chatting goes on. The thread will be opened a couple of hours ahead of time for you to post questions.
Please join us and let your F-150 buddies know about the chat. Eric is a car guy, just like us.
Eric started tinkering with cars long before he had a driver’s license. As a 13-year-old in northern Michigan, he took it as a challenge to get the former family car – a 1966 Chevrolet Impala – running again. Kuehn spent about a year on the restoration project, repairing the body, refurbishing the... [Read More]
Japan's aftermarket auto parts and racing expo, the Tokyo Auto Salon features displays by all major domestic automakers including Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Subaru. Tuners from NISMO to TRD and Mugen display their latest products and point to the future of the Japanese tuner industry. The 2012 show promises to be a big one, thanks to the debut of the Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ.
For some of the more minor auto shows, a Top 10 list of the most important cars often covers most of the new debuts, but not so at the North American International Auto Show. Held each January in Detroit it's the obvious launch site for major products by the Big Three domestic automakers and over the years has also become the venue for important new models by the rest of the auto industry.
Domestics made their mark at this year's Detroit show, starting with one very different concept car revealed by Chevrolet. Called the Tru 140S it may look like some outrageously fast and expensive exotic machine, but it's neither. Based on the same front-drive platform as the Chevy Cruze, it is powered by the same 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which makes just 138 hp in that car. Designed, along with the Code 130R concept, as part of an initiative to attract youth buyers back to the brand, Chevy seems serious about the concept, even announcing that if it made production, the... At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, Ford's head of product development Derrick Kuzak addressed some of the rumors circulating about their famed Mustang sports car. Though many of Kuzak's answers are vague and don't give a real conclusion, some reading in between the lines gives us a hint of things to come.
In terms of independent rear suspension being a possibility for the next-generation Mustang, Kuzak stated that it was a tad early to even speak about it but that recognizing Ford's commitment to product excellence, "it will probably give you a sense of direction we [Ford] have." But things got interesting when asked about a four-cylinder Mustang, Kuzak answered with:
Eleanor, the customized 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 that starred alongside Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie in the 2000 remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds," will be hitting the auction block, and there's buzz that it could sell for as much as £100,000 (that's about US$154,000). We guess that with all of Cage's recent and public financial issues, he won't be bidding on this famous movie car.
Out of the 12 Eleanors that were made for the film, five didn't make it through to see the final cut. The one that's being auctioned is car seven, which was used for driving shots, as well as for dialogue and interior action shots with the actors. Making it even more special, this Eleanor is one of only two original cars in private hands.
Modifications that were made to this movie star Mustang included a 351-cubic inch Ford Racing crate motor that was fitted with a "big" camshaft and 700cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Other upgrades that make... [Read More]
